By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.

亞伯漢亦憑信德、心從天主之命、不惜離鄉背井、以覓承許為嗣業之地。方其就道、固茫然不知己之奚適也。

By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.

Abraham had faith. So he obeyed God. God called him to go to a place he would later receive as his own. So he went. He did it even though he didn’t know where he was going.

It was by faith that Abraham obeyed when God called him to leave home and go to another land that God would give him as his inheritance. He went without knowing where he was going.

By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed and set out for a place that he was going to receive as an inheritance. He went out, even though he did not know where he was going.

Now the Lord said to Abram,“ Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you.And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing.I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”So Abram went, as the Lord had told him, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran.

And Stephen said:“ Brothers and fathers, hear me. The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia, before he lived in Haran,and said to him,‘ Go out from your land and from your kindred and go into the land that I will show you.’Then he went out from the land of the Chaldeans and lived in Haran. And after his father died, God removed him from there into this land in which you are now living.

Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart,

Then the Lord appeared to Abram and said,“ To your offspring I will give this land.” So he built there an altar to the Lord, who had appeared to him.

But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says,“ Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?”

“ Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.

the covenant that he made with Abraham, his sworn promise to Isaac,which he confirmed to Jacob as a statute, to Israel as an everlasting covenant,saying,“ To you I will give the land of Canaan as your portion for an inheritance.”

and in your offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice.”

What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him?If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food,and one of you says to them,“ Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that?

For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?

for all the land that you see I will give to you and to your offspring forever.I will make your offspring as the dust of the earth, so that if one can count the dust of the earth, your offspring also can be counted.Arise, walk through the length and the breadth of the land, for I will give it to you.”

And he said to him,“ I am the Lord who brought you out from Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land to possess.”But he said,“ O Lord God, how am I to know that I shall possess it?”

who through faith conquered kingdoms, enforced justice, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,

Not because of your righteousness or the uprightness of your heart are you going in to possess their land, but because of the wickedness of these nations the Lord your God is driving them out from before you, and that he may confirm the word that the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

Look to Abraham your father and to Sarah who bore you; for he was but one when I called him, that I might bless him and multiply him.

Then I took your father Abraham from beyond the River and led him through all the land of Canaan, and made his offspring many. I gave him Isaac.

through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith for the sake of his name among all the nations,

Terah took Abram his son and Lot the son of Haran, his grandson, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram’s wife, and they went forth together from Ur of the Chaldeans to go into the land of Canaan, but when they came to Haran, they settled there.

And I will give to you and to your offspring after you the land of your sojournings, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession, and I will be their God.”

Who stirred up one from the east whom victory meets at every step? He gives up nations before him, so that he tramples kings under foot; he makes them like dust with his sword, like driven stubble with his bow.

But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed,

And he brought him outside and said,“ Look toward heaven, and number the stars, if you are able to number them.” Then he said to him,“ So shall your offspring be.”

Sojourn in this land, and I will be with you and will bless you, for to you and to your offspring I will give all these lands, and I will establish the oath that I swore to Abraham your father.

You are the Lord, the God who chose Abram and brought him out of Ur of the Chaldeans and gave him the name Abraham.You found his heart faithful before you, and made with him the covenant to give to his offspring the land of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Jebusite, and the Girgashite. And you have kept your promise, for you are righteous.

I will take you from the nations and gather you from all the countries and bring you into your own land.

We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,

Likewise, wives, be subject to your own husbands, so that even if some do not obey the word, they may be won without a word by the conduct of their wives,

And being made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey him,
