若長出來的盡是荊棘和蒺藜，就毫無價值，它會面臨被咒詛的危險，最後必遭焚燒。

我會清楚地告訴他們，『我從來不認識你們，你們這些作惡的人走開！』

雅各接受了以撒的祝福才剛離開，他的哥哥以掃就打獵回來了。以掃把野味煮好，拿到父親跟前，說：「父親，請起來吃你兒子煮的野味，然後給我祝福。」他父親以撒問道：「你是誰？」以掃回答說：「我是你的長子以掃。」以撒大為震驚，說：「你沒有來之前，拿野味來給我吃的是誰呢？我已經吃了，也給那人祝福了，他將來必蒙祝福。」以掃聽了放聲痛哭，說：「父親啊，求你也為我祝福！」以撒說：「你弟弟已經用詭計把你的福分奪去了。」以掃說：「怪不得他叫雅各，他已經騙了我兩次，先前把我長子的名分奪去，現在又奪去我的福分！」接著他對父親說：「難道你沒有留下別的祝福可以給我嗎？」以撒對以掃說：「我已經立他做你的主人，使他的眾弟兄做他的僕人，並給他五穀和新酒。孩子啊，我還能為你做什麼呢？」以掃對父親說：「父親啊，你只有一個祝福嗎？父親啊，求你也為我祝福！」以掃又放聲大哭。以撒對他說：「你住的地方必遠離肥沃的土地，也不會有天上的甘霖。你必倚靠刀劍生活，又必服侍你的弟弟。到你無法忍受的時候，你必掙脫頸上的重軛。」以掃因為父親把祝福給了雅各，就對雅各懷恨在心，暗自思量說：「父親已經不久人世，他死後，我要把雅各殺掉！」

「你們要努力進窄門，因為我告訴你們，將來有許多人想要進卻進不去。當主人起來把門關閉之後，你們才站在外面叩門哀求，說，『主啊，給我們開門吧！』主人必說，『我不認識你們，你們是從哪裡來的？』「那時，你們必說，『我們不是在一起用過餐嗎？你不是在街上教導過我們嗎？』「主人必說，『我告訴你們，我不認識你們，也不知道你們是從哪裡來的。你們這些作惡的人，走開！』

他們被稱為廢棄的銀渣，因為耶和華已丟棄他們。」

有些人曾蒙上帝光照，嚐過天賜恩典的滋味，有份於聖靈，嚐過上帝之道的甘美，領悟到永世的權能，卻背棄了真道，讓他們重新悔改是不可能的。因為他們等於把上帝的兒子重新釘在十字架上，使祂再度公開受辱。

我呼喚你們，你們卻充耳不聞；我向你們招手，你們卻視若無睹。你們漠視我的勸誡，不接受我的責備。因此，你們遭遇災難時，我必發笑；驚恐臨到你們時，我必嗤笑——那時，恐懼如風暴襲擊你們，災難如旋風臨到你們，憂愁和苦難吞沒你們。你們呼求我，我也不回答；你們懇切地尋找我，卻找不到。因為你們厭惡知識，不願意敬畏耶和華，不接受我的勸誡，又藐視我的責備。所以，你們必自食其果，因自己的惡謀而吃盡苦頭。

因為我們知道了真理以後，若仍然故意犯罪，就再沒有贖罪祭了，只有可怕的審判和燒滅敵對者的烈火等候我們。人違犯摩西的律法，經兩三個人指證後，尚且被毫不留情地處死，更何況人踐踏上帝的兒子，輕看那使人聖潔的立約之血，又藐視賜人恩典的聖靈？這等人該受多麼重的刑罰啊！
