For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.

Remember the things I have done in the past. For I alone am God! I am God, and there is none like me.Only I can tell you the future before it even happens. Everything I plan will come to pass, for I do whatever I wish.

Because of that experience, we have even greater confidence in the message proclaimed by the prophets. You must pay close attention to what they wrote, for their words are like a lamp shining in a dark place— until the Day dawns, and Christ the Morning Star shines in your hearts.Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding,or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God.

I tell you this beforehand, so that when it happens you will believe that I Am the Messiah.

“ Praise the Lord, the God of Israel, who has kept the promise he made to my father, David. For he told my father,‘ From the day I brought my people Israel out of Egypt, I have never chosen a city among any of the tribes of Israel as the place where a Temple should be built to honor my name. But I have chosen David to be king over my people Israel.’”Then Solomon said,“ My father, David, wanted to build this Temple to honor the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.But the Lord told him,‘ You wanted to build the Temple to honor my name. Your intention is good,but you are not the one to do it. One of your own sons will build the Temple to honor me.’“ And now the Lord has fulfilled the promise he made, for I have become king in my father’s place, and now I sit on the throne of Israel, just as the Lord promised. I have built this Temple to honor the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.

“ Let them try to tell us what happened long ago so that we may consider the evidence. Or let them tell us what the future holds, so we can know what’s going to happen.Yes, tell us what will occur in the days ahead. Then we will know you are gods. In fact, do anything— good or bad! Do something that will amaze and frighten us.

This salvation was something even the prophets wanted to know more about when they prophesied about this gracious salvation prepared for you.They wondered what time or situation the Spirit of Christ within them was talking about when he told them in advance about Christ’s suffering and his great glory afterward.They were told that their messages were not for themselves, but for you. And now this Good News has been announced to you by those who preached in the power of the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. It is all so wonderful that even the angels are eagerly watching these things happen.

Who is like me? Let him step forward and prove to you his power. Let him do as I have done since ancient times when I established a people and explained its future.Do not tremble; do not be afraid. Did I not proclaim my purposes for you long ago? You are my witnesses— is there any other God? No! There is no other Rock— not one!”

As the sun was going down, Abram fell into a deep sleep, and a terrifying darkness came down over him.Then the Lord said to Abram,“ You can be sure that your descendants will be strangers in a foreign land, where they will be oppressed as slaves for 400 years.But I will punish the nation that enslaves them, and in the end they will come away with great wealth.( As for you, you will die in peace and be buried at a ripe old age.)After four generations your descendants will return here to this land, for the sins of the Amorites do not yet warrant their destruction.”

Not a single one of all the good promises the Lord had given to the family of Israel was left unfulfilled; everything he had spoken came true.

“ Soon I will die, going the way of everything on earth. Deep in your hearts you know that every promise of the Lord your God has come true. Not a single one has failed!But as surely as the Lord your God has given you the good things he promised, he will also bring disaster on you if you disobey him. He will completely destroy you from this good land he has given you.
