I answered,“ Who would listen if I spoke to them and warned them? Their ears are so closed that they cannot hear! Indeed, what the LORD says is offensive to them. They do not like it at all.

Now this is the basis for judging: that the light has come into the world and people loved the darkness rather than the light, because their deeds were evil.For everyone who does evil deeds hates the light and does not come to the light, so that their deeds will not be exposed.

“ But they refused to pay attention, turning away stubbornly and stopping their ears so they could not hear.

But Jeshurun became fat and kicked, you got fat, thick, and stuffed! Then he deserted the God who made him, and treated the Rock who saved him with contempt.

They are calloused; they speak arrogantly.

For the LORD has poured out on you a strong urge to sleep deeply. He has shut your eyes( the prophets), and covered your heads( the seers).

Why, LORD, do you make us stray from your ways, and make our minds stubborn so that we do not obey you? Return for the sake of your servants, the tribes of your inheritance!

But King Sihon of Heshbon was unwilling to allow us to pass near him because the LORD our God had made him obstinate and stubborn so that he might deliver him over to you this very day.

not to many peoples of unintelligible speech and difficult language, whose words you cannot understand– surely if I had sent you to them, they would listen to you!But the house of Israel is unwilling to listen to you, because they are not willing to listen to me, for the whole house of Israel is hard-headed and hard-hearted.“ I have made your face adamant to match their faces, and your forehead hard to match their foreheads.I have made your forehead harder than flint– like diamond! Their hearts are calloused, but I find delight in your law.

And as for me, I am going to harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they will come after them, that I may be honored because of Pharaoh and his army and his chariots and his horsemen.

So Moses and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh, but the LORD hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he did not release the Israelites from his land.

The LORD will strike Egypt, striking and then healing them. They will turn to the LORD and he will listen to their prayers and heal them.

But I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and although I will multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt,

But the LORD hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he was not willing to release them.

to the latter an odor from death to death, but to the former a fragrance from life to life. And who is adequate for these things?

Therefore repent and turn back so that your sins may be wiped out,
