Consult God’s instruction and the testimony of warning. If anyone does not speak according to this word, they have no light of dawn.

Follow what the Lord taught you and said to you through me. People who don’t speak in keeping with these words will have no hope in the morning.

Look to God’s instructions and teachings! People who contradict his word are completely in the dark.

Go to God’s instruction and testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, there will be no dawn for them.

To the Law and to the testimony! If they do not speak in accordance with this word, it is because they have no dawn.

To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

To the law and to the testimony! if they speak not according to this word, surely there is no morning for them.

Then you must recall the LORD’s instructions and the prophetic testimony of what would happen. Certainly they say such things because their minds are spiritually darkened.

Turn to the law and to the covenant! If they don’t speak according to this word, surely there is no morning for them.

And we have the prophetic word more fully confirmed, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts,

And now, go, write it before them on a tablet and inscribe it in a book, that it may be for the time to come as a witness forever.For they are a rebellious people, lying children, children unwilling to hear the instruction of the Lord;who say to the seers,“ Do not see,” and to the prophets,“ Do not prophesy to us what is right; speak to us smooth things, prophesy illusions,leave the way, turn aside from the path, let us hear no more about the Holy One of Israel.”

Bind up the testimony; seal the teaching among my disciples.

The wise men shall be put to shame; they shall be dismayed and taken; behold, they have rejected the word of the Lord, so what wisdom is in them?

But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness shall rise with healing in its wings. You shall go out leaping like calves from the stall.

Therefore it shall be night to you, without vision, and darkness to you, without divination. The sun shall go down on the prophets, and the day shall be black over them;

For if you believed Moses, you would believe me; for he wrote of me.But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe my words?”

You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me,

and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!

Let us know; let us press on to know the Lord; his going out is sure as the dawn; he will come to us as the showers, as the spring rains that water the earth.”

The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple.

The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple;the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes;

And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying,“ In you shall all the nations be blessed.”So then, those who are of faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written,“ Cursed be everyone who does not abide by all things written in the Book of the Law, and do them.”Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for“ The righteous shall live by faith.”But the law is not of faith, rather“ The one who does them shall live by them.”Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us— for it is written,“ Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree”—so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith.To give a human example, brothers: even with a man-made covenant, no one annuls it or adds to it once it has been ratified.Now the promises were made to Abraham and to his offspring. It does not say,“ And to offsprings,” referring to many, but referring to one,“ And to your offspring,” who is Christ.This is what I mean: the law, which came 430 years afterward, does not annul a covenant previously ratified by God, so as to make the promise void.For if the inheritance comes by the law, it no longer comes by promise; but God gave it to Abraham by a promise.Why then the law? It was added because of transgressions, until the offspring should come to whom the promise had been made, and it was put in place through angels by an intermediary.Now an intermediary implies more than one, but God is one.Is the law then contrary to the promises of God? Certainly not! For if a law had been given that could give life, then righteousness would indeed be by the law.But the Scripture imprisoned everything under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.Now before faith came, we were held captive under the law, imprisoned until the coming faith would be revealed.So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith.But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian,for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith.For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to promise.

But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day.

in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’You leave the commandment of God and hold to the tradition of men.”And he said to them,“ You have a fine way of rejecting the commandment of God in order to establish your tradition!

But Jesus answered them,“ You are wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God.

Claiming to be wise, they became fools,

Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.

Hear the word of the Lord, you rulers of Sodom! Give ear to the teaching of our God, you people of Gomorrah!

But Abraham said,‘ They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.’And he said,‘ No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’He said to him,‘ If they do not hear Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be convinced if someone should rise from the dead.’”

Tell me, you who desire to be under the law, do you not listen to the law?For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by a slave woman and one by a free woman.

For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he is blind, having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins.

He said to him,“ What is written in the Law? How do you read it?”
