今天永恆主必將你送交我手；我必擊殺你，取下你的頭；今天我必將非利士人軍兵的屍首給空中的飛鳥和地上的野獸喫；使全地都知道以色列有上帝；又使這大眾都知道永恆主使人得勝、不是用刀用矛；因為爭戰的勝敗全在於永恆主；他必將你們交在我們手裏。』

我必打發大黃蜂在你前面，把希未人、迦南人、赫人、都從你們面前趕出去。我不在一年之內就把他們從你面前趕出去，恐怕這地荒涼，野地的獸多起來來害你。

於是以色列王集合了神言人約四百位，問他們說：『我去對基列的拉末交戰可以麼？還是要忍着不去呢？』他們說：『你可以上去，主一定將那地交在王手裏。』

約拿單對拿軍器的青年護兵說：『來，我們過去、到這些沒有受割禮的人的駐防營那裏去吧；或者永恆主能為我們作一件事，因為永恆主拯救人、是不受人多或人少所牽制的。』

永恆主對約書亞說：『你不要因他們而懼怕；因為明天大約這時候、我必使他們全部刺死、都交付在以色列人面前；他們的馬你要砍斷蹄筋，他們的車輛你要放火去燒。』於是約書亞同所有能爭戰的人猛然來到米倫水邊，向着他們衝鋒，攻打他們。永恆主將他們交在以色列人手裏；以色列人擊敗了他們，追趕他們、到大西頓、到米斯利弗瑪音、直到東邊的米斯巴平原，擊殺他們，殺到沒有給他們剩下一個殘存的。

他們若這樣說：「你們上我們這裏來吧！」那麼我們就上去；因為永恆主將他們交在我們手裏：這就是給了我們的兆頭。』

永恆主對約書亞說：『不要怕他們；因為我已經將他們交在你手裏；他們必沒有一個人能在你面前站得住。』約書亞就終夜從吉甲上去，猛然襲擊他們。永恆主使他們在以色列人面前潰亂；約書亞在基遍大大擊敗他們，沿伯和崙的上坡路向追趕他們，擊殺了他們、直到亞西加和瑪基大。

米該雅來到王面前，王問他說：『米該雅啊，我們到基列的拉末去交戰可以麼？還是要忍着不去呢？』他對王說：『你可以上去，取得勝利；永恆主一定將那地交在王手裏。』
