Then the Spirit of the Lord came on Gideon, and he blew a trumpet, summoning the Abiezrites to follow him.

耶和华的灵降在俄陀聂身上，他就做了以色列的士师，领兵出战。耶和华将美索不达米亚王古珊·利萨田交在他手中，他便战胜了古珊·利萨田。

到了那里，他就在以法莲的山区吹响号角，召集以色列人。众人跟随以笏下山，

上帝的灵感动了耶何耶大祭司的儿子撒迦利亚，他便站在高处对民众说：“耶和华上帝这样说，‘你们为什么违反耶和华的诫命，以致不得亨通呢？既然你们背弃我，我也必离弃你们。’”

当时，上帝的灵感动那三十位勇士的首领亚玛撒，他就说：“大卫啊，我们是你的人！耶西的儿子啊，我们拥护你！愿你无比昌盛！愿帮助你的人也都昌盛！因为你的上帝帮助你。”大卫便收留他们，派他们统领他的队伍。

你们要活出主耶稣基督的荣美，不要只顾放纵罪恶本性的私欲。

这人从圣灵领受智言，那人从圣灵领受知识；圣灵赐这人信心，赐那人医病的恩赐；圣灵使这人能行神迹，使那人能做先知讲道；使这人能辨别诸灵，使那人能说方言，又使另一人能翻译方言。这一切都是同一位圣灵所赐的，是祂按自己的旨意分别赐给各人的。

非利士人看见参孙来到利希，就呐喊着迎了上去。耶和华的灵降在参孙身上，绑在他手臂上的绳子就像被火烧的麻线一样脱落下来。

当他在琐拉和以实陶之间的玛哈尼·但的时候，耶和华的灵开始感动他。

扫罗听后，上帝的灵降在他身上，他勃然大怒，

基甸说：“我怎能比得上你们呢？以法莲人摘剩的葡萄岂不比我们亚比以谢族收获的葡萄更好吗？

耶和华的灵离开了扫罗，有个邪灵从耶和华那里来折磨他。

玛拿西其他的子孙也按宗族分到了土地，他们属于亚比以谢、希勒、亚斯列、示剑、希弗和示米大宗族。这些男子按宗族都是约瑟的儿子玛拿西的后代。

一天，耶和华的天使来到俄弗拉，坐在亚比以谢族人约阿施的橡树下。约阿施的儿子基甸因为要躲避米甸人，正躲在榨酒池里打麦子。
