Listen! The report is coming— a great commotion from the land of the north! It will make the towns of Judah desolate, a haunt of jackals.

Listen! A message is coming! I hear the sound of a great army marching down from the north! It will turn Judah’s towns into a desert. They will become a home for wild dogs.

A voice, a rumor! Behold, it comes!— a great commotion out of the north country to make the cities of Judah a desolation, a lair of jackals.

Listen! Hear the terrifying roar of great armies as they roll down from the north. The towns of Judah will be destroyed and become a haunt for jackals.

Listen! A noise— it is coming— a great commotion from the land to the north. The cities of Judah will be made desolate, a jackals’ den.

主曰、我必使耶路撒冷成為邱墟、為豺狼豺狼或作野犬之巢穴、使猶大諸邑荒蕪、無人居處、

我必召北方列國之諸族咸至、各立其座於耶路撒冷邑門、環攻耶路撒冷之城垣、及猶大諸邑、此乃主所言、

便雅憫人乎、當出耶路撒冷逃避、在提哥亞吹角、在伯哈基琳樹立旗號、因大災大禍自北方而至、

主如是云、有一族自北方而來、大邦之民、勃然而興、自地極而至、

主曰、以色列族歟、我使一族、來自遠方攻爾、為強族、乃古族、爾不識其言、不明其所語、

我將使迦勒底人興起、斯族殘忍暴躁、徧行天下、天下原文作寛闊之地強據非己之邑、可畏可懼、下令決事、惟隨己意、下令決事惟隨己意或作其權衡威勢由己而出其馬疾於豹、迅於夜出之狼、或作彼之馬較豹尤疾彼眾為人較夜出之狼更暴騎卒驕泰踴躍、來自遠方、迅速若鷹、疾飛攫食、迅速若鷹疾飛攫食或作迅速而行如鷹疾飛攫食彼眾咸來、以行強暴、長驅大進、勢若東風、擄掠人民、多若塵沙、

不愛不愛或作而惡以掃、使其諸山荒蕪、使其地業為豺狼豺狼或作野犬之洞穴、

樹立大纛而往郇、迅速逃避勿遲延、我必使災害大禍、來自北方、
