你们知道，你们还是教外人的时候，总是受迷惑被引诱，去拜那不能说话的偶像。

它们有口，却不能说话；有眼，却不能看；有耳，却不能听；有鼻，却不能闻；有手，却不能摸；有脚，却不能行；也不能用喉咙发声。做偶像的必和偶像一样；凡是倚靠它们的，都必这样。

把以后要来的事告诉我们，好叫我们知道你们是神；你们作这些事，或降福或降祸，以致我们彼此对望，一齐观看。看哪！你们属于无有，你们的作为都属于虚空，那选择你们的是可厌恶的。

你这对木头说“起来”，对哑石说“醒吧”的人，有祸了！它怎能教导你呢？看哪！它包金镶银，里面却全无气息。

彼勒俯伏，尼波弯腰；巴比伦人的偶像驮在走兽和牲口上。你们所抬的现在都成了重担，成了疲乏的牲畜身上的重负。

它得了能力，在头一只兽面前能行奇事，迷惑了住在地上的人，吩咐住在地上的人，要为那受过刀伤而还活着的兽做个像。又有能力赐给它，可以把气息给兽像，使兽像能够说话，并且能够杀害那些不拜兽像的人。

关于吃祭过偶像的食物，我们知道世上的偶像算不得什么，也知道神只有一位，没有别的神。

有口却不能说话，有眼却不能看，有耳却不能听，口中也没有气息。做偶像的必和它们一样，所有倚靠它们的也必这样。

“列国逃脱的人哪！你们要来集合，一同近前来。那些抬着木头做的偶像，向不能拯救人的神祈求的，真是无知。

制造偶像的人，尽都是虚空的，他们所喜爱的，都没有益处。他们的见证人，一无所见，一无所知，以致他们蒙羞。谁制造神像，或铸造偶像，不想得到益处呢？
