“我所爱的既然行了罪大恶极的事，还有什么资格在我的殿里呢？难道祭肉可以消除你的灾祸，使你得着欢乐吗？”

我所愛者、爾既多行淫亂、在我聖室何為、聖胙豈能除爾罪惡、致爾得脫乎、

我之選民、樂與眾同惡、尚入我殿、以獻聖胙、亦奚以為。

昔我所悅者、而今既多行邪惡、在我殿何為、所獻之聖胙、豈能除爾所樂作之惡乎、

“ What is my beloved doing in my temple as she, with many others, works out her evil schemes? Can consecrated meat avert your punishment? When you engage in your wickedness, then you rejoice.”

“ I love the people of Judah. But they are working out their evil plans along with many others. So what are they doing in my temple? Can meat that is offered to me keep me from punishing you? When you do evil things, you get a lot of pleasure from them.”

What right has my beloved in my house, when she has done many vile deeds? Can even sacrificial flesh avert your doom? Can you then exult?

“ What right do my beloved people have to come to my Temple, when they have done so many immoral things? Can their vows and sacrifices prevent their destruction? They actually rejoice in doing evil!

What right does my beloved have to be in my house, having carried out so many evil schemes? Can holy meat prevent your disaster so you can celebrate?

What right has My beloved in My house When she has carried out many evil schemes? Can the sacrificial flesh take away from you your disaster, So that you can rejoice?”

“ What has My beloved to do in My house, Having done lewd deeds with many? And the holy flesh has passed from you. When you do evil, then you rejoice.

What hath my beloved to do in my house, seeing she hath wrought lewdness with many, and the holy flesh is passed from thee? when thou doest evil, then thou rejoicest.

What right does My beloved have to be in My house, having carried out so many evil schemes? Can holy meat prevent your disaster so you can rejoice?

The LORD says to the people of Judah,“ What right do you have to be in my temple, my beloved people? Many of you have done wicked things. Can your acts of treachery be so easily canceled by sacred offerings that you take joy in doing evil even while you make them?

who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the perverseness of evil,

To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure; but both their mind and their conscience are defiled.

Then Yahweh said to me,“ Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind would not turn toward this people. Cast them out of my sight, and let them go out!

But to the wicked God says,“ What right do you have to declare my statutes, that you have taken my covenant on your lips,

“ Go and proclaim in the ears of Jerusalem, saying,‘ Yahweh says,“ I remember for you the kindness of your youth, the love of your weddings; how you went after me in the wilderness, in a land that was not sown.

Behold, you trust in lying words that can’t profit.Will you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely, burn incense to Baal, and walk after other gods that you have not known,then come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say,‘ We are delivered;’ that you may do all these abominations?Has this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, I myself have seen it,” says Yahweh.

‘ If someone carries holy meat in the fold of his garment, and with his fold touches bread, stew, wine, oil, or any food, will it become holy?’” The priests answered,“ No.”Then Haggai said,“ If one who is unclean by reason of a dead body touch any of these, will it be unclean?” The priests answered,“ It will be unclean.”Then Haggai answered,“‘ So is this people, and so is this nation before me,’ says Yahweh;‘ and so is every work of their hands. That which they offer there is unclean.

I saw when, for this very cause, that backsliding Israel had committed adultery, I had put her away and given her a certificate of divorce, yet treacherous Judah, her sister, had no fear; but she also went and played the prostitute.

But now you glory in your boasting. All such boasting is evil.

“ Son of man, there were two women, the daughters of one mother.They played the prostitute in Egypt. They played the prostitute in their youth. Their breasts were fondled there, and their youthful nipples were caressed there.Their names were Oholah the elder, and Oholibah her sister. They became mine, and they bore sons and daughters. As for their names, Samaria is Oholah, and Jerusalem Oholibah.“ Oholah played the prostitute when she was mine. She doted on her lovers, on the Assyrians her neighbors,who were clothed with blue, governors and rulers, all of them desirable young men, horsemen riding on horses.She gave herself as a prostitute to them, all of them the choicest men of Assyria. She defiled herself with the idols of whoever she lusted after.She hasn’t left her prostitution since leaving Egypt; for in her youth they lay with her. They caressed her youthful nipples; and they poured out their prostitution on her.“ Therefore I delivered her into the hand of her lovers, into the hand of the Assyrians, on whom she doted.These uncovered her nakedness. They took her sons and her daughters; and they killed her with the sword. She became a byword among women; for they executed judgments on her.“ Her sister Oholibah saw this, yet she was more corrupt in her lusting than she, and in her prostitution which was more depraved than the prostitution of her sister.She lusted after the Assyrians, governors and rulers, her neighbors, clothed most gorgeously, horsemen riding on horses, all of them desirable young men.I saw that she was defiled. They both went the same way.“ She increased her prostitution; for she saw men portrayed on the wall, the images of the Chaldeans portrayed with red,dressed with belts on their waists, with flowing turbans on their heads, all of them looking like princes, after the likeness of the Babylonians in Chaldea, the land of their birth.As soon as she saw them, she lusted after them and sent messengers to them into Chaldea.The Babylonians came to her into the bed of love, and they defiled her with their prostitution. She was polluted with them, and her soul was alienated from them.So she uncovered her prostitution and uncovered her nakedness. Then my soul was alienated from her, just like my soul was alienated from her sister.Yet she multiplied her prostitution, remembering the days of her youth, in which she had played the prostitute in the land of Egypt.She lusted after their lovers, whose flesh is as the flesh of donkeys, and whose issue is like the issue of horses.Thus you called to memory the lewdness of your youth, in the caressing of your nipples by the Egyptians because of your youthful breasts.

But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man who didn’t have on wedding clothing,

You have built your lofty place at the head of every way, and have made your beauty an abomination, and have opened your feet to everyone who passed by, and multiplied your prostitution.You have also committed sexual immorality with the Egyptians, your neighbors, great of flesh; and have multiplied your prostitution, to provoke me to anger.See therefore, I have stretched out my hand over you, and have diminished your portion, and delivered you to the will of those who hate you, the daughters of the Philistines, who are ashamed of your lewd way.You have played the prostitute also with the Assyrians, because you were insatiable; yes, you have played the prostitute with them, and yet you weren’t satisfied.You have moreover multiplied your prostitution to the land of merchants, to Chaldea; and yet you weren’t satisfied with this.“‘“ How weak is your heart,” says the Lord Yahweh,“ since you do all these things, the work of an impudent prostitute;in that you build your vaulted place at the head of every way, and make your lofty place in every street, and have not been as a prostitute, in that you scorn pay.“‘“ A wife who commits adultery! Who takes strangers instead of her husband!People give gifts to all prostitutes; but you give your gifts to all your lovers, and bribe them, that they may come to you on every side for your prostitution.You are different from other women in your prostitution, in that no one follows you to play the prostitute; and whereas you give hire, and no hire is given to you, therefore you are different.”’

Yahweh said to me,“ Go again, love a woman loved by another, and an adulteress, even as Yahweh loves the children of Israel, though they turn to other gods, and love cakes of raisins.”

The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination— how much more, when he brings it with a wicked mind!

Like a madman who shoots torches, arrows, and death,

“ Return, backsliding children,” says Yahweh;“ for I am a husband to you. I will take one of you from a city, and two from a family, and I will bring you to Zion.

Concerning the Good News, they are enemies for your sake. But concerning the election, they are beloved for the fathers’ sake.

“ What are the multitude of your sacrifices to me?”, says Yahweh.“ I have had enough of the burnt offerings of rams and the fat of fed animals. I don’t delight in the blood of bulls, or of lambs, or of male goats.When you come to appear before me, who has required this at your hand, to trample my courts?Bring no more vain offerings. Incense is an abomination to me. New moons, Sabbaths, and convocations: I can’t stand evil assemblies.My soul hates your New Moons and your appointed feasts. They are a burden to me. I am weary of bearing them.When you spread out your hands, I will hide my eyes from you. Yes, when you make many prayers, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood.

He who turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.

“ I have forsaken my house. I have cast off my heritage. I have given the dearly beloved of my soul into the hand of her enemies.

It is a fool’s pleasure to do wickedness, but wisdom is a man of understanding’s pleasure.

doesn’t rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth;

When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said,“ What do I have to do with you, Jesus, you Son of the Most High God? I beg you, don’t torment me!”

The sacrifice made by the wicked is an abomination to Yahweh, but the prayer of the upright is his delight.

Yahweh says,“ Where is the bill of your mother’s divorce, with which I have put her away? Or to which of my creditors have I sold you? Behold, you were sold for your iniquities, and your mother was put away for your transgressions.

“ They say,‘ If a man puts away his wife, and she goes from him, and becomes another man’s, should he return to her again?’ Wouldn’t that land be greatly polluted? But you have played the prostitute with many lovers; yet return again to me,” says Yahweh.“ Lift up your eyes to the bare heights, and see! Where have you not been lain with? You have sat waiting for them by the road, as an Arabian in the wilderness. You have polluted the land with your prostitution and with your wickedness.
