I have not run away from being your shepherd; you know I have not desired the day of despair. What passes my lips is open before you.

I haven’t run away from being the shepherd of your people. You know I haven’t wanted the day of Jerusalem’s fall to come. You are aware of every word that comes from my lips.

I have not run away from being your shepherd, nor have I desired the day of sickness. You know what came out of my lips; it was before your face.

Lord, I have not abandoned my job as a shepherd for your people. I have not urged you to send disaster. You have heard everything I’ve said.

But I have not run away from being your shepherd, and I have not longed for the fatal day. You know my words were spoken in your presence.

But as for me, I have not hurried away from being a shepherd following after You, Nor have I longed for the disastrous day; You Yourself know that the utterance of my lips Was in Your presence.

Be not many of you teachers, my brethren, knowing that we shall receive heavier judgment.

But if ye will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret for your pride; and mine eye shall weep sore, and run down with tears, because Jehovah’s flock is taken captive.

I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience bearing witness with me in the Holy Spirit,that I have great sorrow and unceasing pain in my heart.For I could wish that I myself were anathema from Christ for my brethren’s sake, my kinsmen according to the flesh:

Oh that my head were waters, and mine eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!

Ye know this, my beloved brethren. But let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

For our glorying is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in holiness and sincerity of God, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God, we behaved ourselves in the world, and more abundantly to you- ward.

For we are not as the many, corrupting the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God, speak we in Christ.

Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet’s son; but I was a herdsman, and a dresser of sycomore- trees:and Jehovah took me from following the flock, and Jehovah said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel.

And thou shalt say this word unto them, Let mine eyes run down with tears night and day, and let them not cease; for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach, with a very grievous wound.If I go forth into the field, then, behold, the slain with the sword! and if I enter into the city, then, behold, they that are sick with famine! for both the prophet and the priest go about in the land, and have no knowledge.Hast thou utterly rejected Judah? hath thy soul loathed Zion? why hast thou smitten us, and there is no healing for us? We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of healing, and, behold, dismay!We acknowledge, O Jehovah, our wickedness, and the iniquity of our fathers; for we have sinned against thee.Do not abhor us, for thy name’s sake; do not disgrace the throne of thy glory: remember, break not thy covenant with us.

Shall evil be recompensed for good? for they have digged a pit for my soul. Remember how I stood before thee to speak good for them, to turn away thy wrath from them.

For I shrank not from declaring unto you the whole counsel of God.

how I shrank not from declaring unto you anything that was profitable, and teaching you publicly, and from house to house,

And if I say, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name, then there is in my heart as it were a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I am weary with forbearing, and I cannot contain.
