I gave the same message to Zedekiah king of Judah. I said,“ Bow your neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon; serve him and his people, and you will live.

I gave the same message to Zedekiah, the king of Judah. I said,“ Put your neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon. Obey him. Serve his people. Then you will live.

To Zedekiah king of Judah I spoke in like manner:“ Bring your necks under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him and his people and live.

Then I repeated this same message to King Zedekiah of Judah.“ If you want to live, submit to the yoke of the king of Babylon and his people.

当年，就是犹大王西底家登基第四年五月，押朔的儿子基遍人哈拿尼雅先知，在耶和华的殿中当着祭司和众百姓的面对我说：

耶利米对西底家说：“耶和华—万军之神、以色列的神如此说：你若归顺巴比伦王的官长，你的命就必存活，这城也不致被火焚烧，你和你的全家都必存活。

“无论哪一邦、哪一国，不肯服事巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒，不把颈项放在他的轭下，我必用刀剑、饥荒、瘟疫惩罚那邦，直到我藉巴比伦王的手毁灭他们。这是耶和华说的。

惟听从我的，必安然居住，得享宁静，不怕灾祸。”

“耶和华对我如此说：你要为自己做皮带和木轭，套在你的颈项上，然后托那些来到耶路撒冷，到犹大王西底家那里的使节，把皮带和木轭送到以东王、摩押王、亚扪王、推罗王、西顿王那里，

西底家登基的时候年二十一岁，在耶路撒冷作王十一年。他行耶和华—他神眼中看为恶的事，没有谦卑听从耶利米先知所传达耶和华的话。尼布甲尼撒王曾叫他指着神起誓，他却背叛，硬着颈项，内心顽固，不归向耶和华—以色列的神。

耶和华的话临到我，说：“你要对那悖逆之家说：你们不知道这些事是什么意思吗？你要这样说，看哪，巴比伦王曾到耶路撒冷，把其中的君王和官长带到巴比伦去，又从以色列王室后裔中选取一人，与他立约，令他发誓，又掳走国中有势力的人，使王国衰弱，不再强盛，只能靠守盟约方得生存。他却背叛巴比伦王，差派使者前往埃及，要求埃及人给他马匹和许多人。他岂能亨通呢？这样做的人岂能逃脱呢？他背了约岂能逃脱呢？主耶和华说：我指着我的永生起誓，他定要死在巴比伦，就是巴比伦王所在之处；因为巴比伦王立他为王，他竟轻看向王所起的誓，背弃王与他所立的约。当敌人建土堆，筑堡垒，要歼灭许多人时，法老虽有强大军队和大批人马，在战场上还是不能帮助他。他轻看誓言，背弃盟约，看哪，虽已投降，却又做这一切的事，他必不能逃脱。所以主耶和华如此说：我指着我的永生起誓，他既轻看我的誓言，背弃我的约，我必使这罪归到他头上。我要把我的网撒在他身上，他就被我的罗网缠住。我要带他到巴比伦，在那里因他背叛我的罪惩罚他。所有逃跑的军队必倒在刀下；剩余的也必分散四方。你们就知道说这话的是我—耶和华。”
