當書達以弗所會之使者云、右手執七星、行於七金檠間者、曰、我知爾諸行、勤勞忍耐、彼惡者爾不能容、自謂使徒而非然者、爾曾試之、知其偽矣、爾有忍耐、嘗因我名、容忍而不倦、

希西家遣使往以色列及猶大地、並致書於以法蓮瑪拿西人、使之咸至耶路撒冷耶和華室、守逾越節、奉事以色列之上帝耶和華、王與牧伯、及耶路撒冷會眾相議、於二月守逾越節、其不能如期而守之、因自潔之祭司不足、民亦未集於耶路撒冷故也、王與會眾視此為善、遂定命令、普告以色列、自別是巴至但、使至耶路撒冷、守逾越節、奉事以色列之上帝耶和華、蓋民素無多人、循所錄之例而守之、於是郵傳者遵王命、傳王與牧伯之書於以色列、及猶大地、曰、以色列人歟、爾當復歸亞伯拉罕以撒以色列之上帝耶和華、俾其轉向爾曹、脫於亞述王手之遺民、
