A father of the fatherless, a defender of widows, Is God in His holy habitation.

Assyria shall not save us, We will not ride on horses, Nor will we say anymore to the work of our hands,‘ You are our gods.’ For in You the fatherless finds mercy.”

Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.

But You have seen, for You observe trouble and grief, To repay it by Your hand. Now she who is really a widow, and left alone, trusts in God and continues in supplications and prayers night and day.
