看啊，我要使來自北方的列強聯合起來攻打巴比倫，他們要列陣攻佔它，他們的勇士箭術高超，百發百中。他們要在迦勒底肆意擄掠，直到心滿意足。這是耶和華說的。搶奪我產業的巴比倫人啊，你們歡喜快樂，像草場上歡跳的母牛犢，又像嘶鳴的公馬。生養你們的母親巴比倫將羞愧難當，蒙受恥辱，排在列國之末，淪為乾旱的荒漠。由於耶和華的憤怒，巴比倫必無人居住，荒涼不堪。她滿目瘡痍，令路人驚懼、嗤笑。弓箭手啊，你們要列陣圍攻巴比倫，向她猛射，不要吝嗇箭枝，因為她得罪了耶和華。你們要從四面向她吶喊，她必投降，她的堡壘將傾倒，城牆將坍塌，因為耶和華要報應她。你們要向她復仇，她怎樣對待別人，你們也要怎樣對待她。你們要剷除在巴比倫撒種的和收割的。為躲避敵人的刀劍，人們各自逃到故土親族那裡。

恐怖的日子來臨了，他們想尋求平安，卻得不到平安。災禍接踵而至，噩耗不斷傳來。那時，他們必求問先知，但祭司的教導必消逝，長老們必無計可施。

你們聽見戰爭爆發、戰訊頻傳時，不要驚慌，因為這些事必然發生，只是末日還沒有到。

「要在大地上豎起旌旗，在列國吹響號角，讓他們預備攻打巴比倫。要召集亞拉臘人、米尼人、亞實基拿人，使他們派遣將領率騎兵如蝗蟲一樣鋪天蓋地而來，攻打巴比倫。要讓列國預備攻打巴比倫，使瑪代的諸王及其省長、總督和所統治的人攻打巴比倫。

「因為巴比倫人毀滅了耶和華的殿，耶和華要使瑪代諸王毀滅他們。瑪代人啊，要磨尖箭頭，拿起盾牌，

那裡派出的使節乘蘆葦船行駛在水面上。迅捷的使節啊，去身材高大、皮膚光滑、遠近畏懼、強盛兇悍、國土河流縱橫的民族那裡吧！世上的一切居民啊，山上豎立旗幟的時候，你們要看；號角吹響的時候，你們要聽。

我必驚動亞述王的心，讓他聽見風聲後便返回本國，使他在那裡死於刀下。』」

要在光禿的山頂上豎立旗幟，向戰士高呼，揮手示意他們進攻貴族居住的城。我已向我揀選的士兵發出命令，我已號召我的勇士去傾倒我的烈怒，他們因我的勝利而歡喜。
