The vision of Obadiah. Thus says the Lord God concerning Edom: We have heard a report from the Lord, and a messenger has been sent among the nations:“ Rise up! Let us rise against her for battle!”Behold, I will make you small among the nations; you shall be utterly despised.The pride of your heart has deceived you, you who live in the clefts of the rock, in your lofty dwelling, who say in your heart,“ Who will bring me down to the ground?”Though you soar aloft like the eagle, though your nest is set among the stars, from there I will bring you down, declares the Lord.

Let not your heart faint, and be not fearful at the report heard in the land, when a report comes in one year and afterward a report in another year, and violence is in the land, and ruler is against ruler.

For behold, I am stirring up and bringing against Babylon a gathering of great nations, from the north country. And they shall array themselves against her. From there she shall be taken. When anguish comes, they will seek peace, but there shall be none.Disaster comes upon disaster; rumor follows rumor. They seek a vision from the prophet, while the law perishes from the priest and counsel from the elders.

And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet.

“ Set up a standard on the earth; blow the trumpet among the nations; prepare the nations for war against her; summon against her the kingdoms, Ararat, Minni, and Ashkenaz; appoint a marshal against her; bring up horses like bristling locusts.Prepare the nations for war against her, the kings of the Medes, with their governors and deputies, and every land under their dominion.

When a trumpet is blown, hear!

Behold, I will put a spirit in him, so that he shall hear a rumor and return to his own land, and I will make him fall by the sword in his own land.’”

On a bare hill raise a signal; cry aloud to them; wave the hand for them to enter the gates of the nobles.I myself have commanded my consecrated ones, and have summoned my mighty men to execute my anger, my proudly exulting ones.
