耶和华已为我们伸冤；来吧！我们要在锡安宣扬耶和华我们神的作为。你们要磨尖箭头，拿起盾牌（“拿起盾牌”《七十士译本》译作“装满箭袋”）；耶和华定意要毁灭巴比伦，所以激动玛代诸王的心；这是耶和华的报复，就是为他的殿而施行的报复。

愿称赞神的话常在他们口中；愿他们手里拿着两刃的剑，为要报复列国，惩罚万民；用锁链捆住他们的君王，用铁镣锁住他们的权贵，要在他们身上施行记录在册上的审判。这就是他所有圣民的尊荣。你们要赞美耶和华。

他把自己的住所破坏，好像园子一样；他毁坏了属他的聚会之处。耶和华使节期和安息日都在锡安被忘记；他在他的盛怒中弃绝了君王和祭司。主丢弃了自己的祭坛，厌弃了自己的圣所。他把宫殿的围墙，交付在仇敌的手里；他们在耶和华的殿中喧嚷，好像庆祝节日一样。

于是人把从耶路撒冷圣殿里，就是神的殿里，掠来的金器皿拿来；王和他的大臣、妻妾、妃嫔就用这些器皿来喝酒。他们喝酒，赞美那些用金、银、铜、铁、木、石所做的神。当时，忽然有人手的指头出现，在王宫里灯台对面的粉墙上写字；王看见了那只正在写字的手掌，

那些已逃脱了刀剑的人哪！走吧！不要站着，要从远方记念耶和华，心中惦念耶路撒冷。我们因听见辱骂而蒙羞，满面惭愧；因为外族人进入了耶和华殿的圣所。

“看哪！我要使耶路撒冷成为令周围万族喝醉的杯；耶路撒冷被围困的时候，犹大也必受到攻击。到那日，我要使耶路撒冷对万族来说像一块沉重的石头，举起它的必受重伤；地上的列国必聚集起来攻击耶路撒冷。
