因為有許多國許多大王都要使迦勒底人做奴隸；我必照他們的行為、按他們的手所作的來報應他們。』

你們要把旌旗豎起，對着巴比倫城牆加強守望；要派立守望人，預設埋伏；因為永恆主指着巴比倫居民而說的話、他不但定了計畫，他也作成。

你們要在掃光的山上豎起旌旗，向戰士揚聲招手，叫他們進入權貴之門。我吩咐我那些獻身軍人；我呼召了我的勇士，我那些耀武揚威的高傲者，來執行我忿怒中所要作的。聽啊！山間有大眾喧嘩的聲音呢！好像許多眾民的嘈雜；聽啊！有列國喧鬧的響聲呢！有聚攏來的列邦之鬨嚷。萬軍之永恆主在點閱着軍隊，準備着赴戰。他們從遠地而來，從天儘邊來到，就是永恆主跟他義怒的軍器、要毁滅這全轄地。

歌篾的子孫是亞實基拿、低法、陀迦瑪。

『看吧，必有一族之民從北方而來；必有一個大國和許多君王被激動，從地之極處來到。他們拿着的是弓和短槍；性很殘忍，毫無憐憫。其聲音如洋海匉訇；他們都騎着馬，擺上隊伍，如上戰場的人要攻擊你，巴比倫小姐啊。

蝗蟲的形狀彷彿是馬豫備好了要出戰一樣。牠們頭上戴的像華冠、彷彿是金的；他們的臉面像人的臉面；牠們有頭髮像女人的頭髮；牠們的牙像獅子的牙；牠們有胸甲像鐵的胸甲，牠們翅膀的響聲像許多車馬奔跑出戰的響聲。牠們有尾巴彷彿是蠍子，又有毒刺；牠們那傷害人五個月的權柄就在於牠們的尾巴。牠們有無底坑的使者做王管轄牠們；王的名字按希伯來話是亞巴頓；按希利尼話叫亞波倫、就是「毁滅者」的意思。

萬軍之永恆主指着自己來起誓，說：我必使敵人充滿了你，像蝻子一樣；他們必以高喊聲相呼應來攻擊你。

世界上一切居民、和地上居住的人哪，山上豎起旌旗時你們要看哦！吹號角時你們要聽哦！

永恆主發神諭說：埃及的森林雖茂密難測，敵人卻要把它割下；因為他們多於蝗蟲，簡直無數。

他在他的神尼斯洛廟裏叩拜的時候，亞得米勒、他兒子、和沙利色、用刀弒殺了他，逃到亞拉臘地。他兒子以撒哈頓接替他作王。

城中若吹了號角，人民哪有不震顫發抖呢？若有災禍臨到一座城，豈不是永恆主所降的麼？

因為那些人總帶着他們的牲畜和帳棚上來，來得像蝗蟲那麼多，人和駱駝無數，都進境內、來損毁它。

便雅憫人哪，從耶路撒冷城中逃出來避難哦！要在提哥亞吹號角，在伯哈基琳豎立警報；因為有災禍與大破毁從北方張望下來。

因為我必聚集列國來跟耶路撒冷交戰；這城必被攻取，房屋被搶掠，婦女被強姦；城中的人必一半出降而流亡，餘剩的人民卻不至於從這城裏被剪除。

一個黑暗墨黑的日子，一個密雲暗霧的日子，像烏黑鋪滿着山嶺的是一團隊蝗蟲、又大又強盛；從來沒有這樣的，以後也不會再有，直到萬代萬年。牠們前面像火燒滅着，牠們過後像火燄燒過；未到以前、地像伊甸園，過去以後、地成了荒涼曠野；唉啊，沒有一樣能逃脫了牠們的。

就在那裏、火就要燒滅你了，刀劍就要剪滅你，吞滅你、像蝻子吞喫五穀。任你增多如蝻子吧！任你增多如蝗蟲吧！任你增加你的行商多過天上的星辰吧！蝻子脫了殼、就飛走了。你的守衛雖多如蝗蟲，你的招募員雖多如螞蚱羣——天涼時駐紮在籬笆上，日頭一出，便都飛走，其住處在哪裏、就無人知了。
