『但我就必在你們眼前報罰巴比倫和迦勒底所有的居民在錫安所行的一切壞事：這是永恆主發神諭說的。

『搶掠我產業的啊，你們雖歡喜，雖快樂，雖踹弄草地像母牛犢，又發嘶聲如雄壯的馬，

讓錫安的居民說：『巴比倫以強暴待我和我骨肉之親，願這罪歸於巴比倫；讓耶路撒冷說：『願流我血的罪歸於迦勒底居民身上。』

毁滅者巴比倫國啊，照你所待我們的去報復你的、那人有福啊！抓住你的嬰孩去摔在磐石上的、那人有福啊！

因為你們怎樣論斷人，也必怎樣被論斷；你們用甚麼量器量給人，也必照甚麼量器量給你們。

亞多尼比色說：『從前有七十個王、手腳的大拇指都被我砍斷、常在我桌子底下撿食物；我怎樣行，上帝怎樣報應我了。』他們將亞多尼比色帶到耶路撒冷；他就死在那裏。

『萬軍之永恆主這麼說：以色列人受欺壓，猶大人也一樣受壓迫；凡擄掠他們的、都緊緊抓住，不肯放走。那贖回他們的、大有能力；萬軍之永恆主耶和華是他的名；他必徹底為他們的案件而伸訴，好使大地平靜下來，而巴比倫的居民惶惶不安。

因為她的罪已纍纍連天了，她所作不對的事、上帝都記得。她怎樣待人，你們也要怎樣待她，按她所行的加一倍；在她調酒的杯中、加倍調給她。

永恆主已經指出我們的勝訴來；來，我們在錫安來宣揚永恆主我們的上帝的作為。『你們要把箭頭磨光，把全副武器裝束起來；因為永恆主定意擊打巴比倫，將她毁滅，故此永恆主激動了瑪代王的心；因為這是永恆主的報復，為他的殿而行的報復。

『以色列是被打散的羊，有獅子把他趕逐了：首先是亞述王將他吞滅，末後是他的骨頭被巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒啃斷了。故此萬軍之永恆主以色列之上帝這麼說：看吧，我必察罰巴比倫王和他的地，像察罰亞述王一樣。

對於不行憐恤的人、審判是沒有憐恤的：行憐恤，憐恤就超審判而誇勝了。
