I will make her officials and wise men drunk, her governors, officers and warriors as well; they will sleep forever and not awake,” declares the King, whose name is the Lord Almighty.

『你要對他們說：「萬軍之永恆主以色列之上帝這麼說：你們要喝到醉，到嘓嘓吐，以致倒下去，不能再起來，是因為刀劍的緣故，就是我所打發到你們中間去的。」

心膽剛勇的人都被掠奪；他們睡了長覺，大有威力的人都不能有所措手。雅各的上帝啊，你的叱責一發出，坐車的和騎馬的都沉睡了。

他們火熱時候，我必為他們擺設酒席，使他們沉醉，以至於暈倒過去，睡個長覺，永不醒起：永恆主發神諭說。

可咒詛啊、行詐騙的人！他的羣中有公的；他也許過願了，卻用有損壞的祭獻給主！其實我是至大的王，萬軍之永恆主說：我的名在列國中是可畏懼的啊。

就在那一夜、迦勒底王伯沙撒就被弒殺了。瑪代人大利烏就取了迦勒底國；那時大利烏約六十二歲。

伯沙撒王為他的一千大臣擺設了盛筵，跟這一千人對面喝酒。當伯沙撒喝酒歡暢的時候，他吩咐人將他父親尼布甲尼撒從耶路撒冷裏面殿堂中所掠取的金銀器皿拿來，王和大臣王后妃嬪好用這些器皿來喝酒。於是人就把從耶路撒冷裏面上帝殿中、就是殿堂中、所掠取的金銀器皿拿了來；王和大臣王后妃嬪就用這些器皿來喝酒。他們喝酒，稱頌了金銀銅鐵木頭石頭的神。

永恆主的使者就出來，在亞述營中擊殺了十八萬五千人；第二天早晨、人清早起來，只見都是死屍。

我的心迷迷糊糊，戰慄發抖使我驚惶；我所愛慕的黃昏竟使我恐怖戰兢。他們擺設筵席，鋪着氈毯，又喫又喝。將領們、起來哦！用油抹盾牌哦！

她怎樣待人，你們也要怎樣待她，按她所行的加一倍；在她調酒的杯中、加倍調給她。她榮耀自己、荒淫無度、多麼多，你們給她苦痛哀慟也要多麼多。因為她心裏說：『我坐着做皇后，我不是寡婦，決不會見哀慟』；

他們如同荊棘叢雜纏結，雖滋潤灌滿如喝醉，終必被燒滅、像乾透了的碎稭。

地上的君王、素來同她行淫、荒淫無度的、看見她被焚燒的煙，就必為她哭泣捶胸。

給人酒喝，攙上其毒，使他們也喝醉，好看他們的下體的、有禍啊！你飽受羞辱、不得榮耀。你、也喝吧，好天旋地轉地醉！永恆主右手的杯必轉到你那裏，你的榮耀就變為極羞辱了！你向利巴嫩行的強暴必淹沒你，野獸之毁滅必驚嚇你；因為你殺了人而流其血，又向國內、向都市和其中一切居民行了強暴、的緣故。
