只隨從自己心意之頑強，隨從眾巴力，就是他們列祖所教導他們行的。

惟徇己心之剛愎、從諸巴力、即其祖所教者、

乃縱私欲崇事巴力、效祖之尤。

放縱私欲、傚法其祖、崇拜巴力、

他們卻掩耳不聽，一意孤行，任意行惡，越來越壞。

那時，耶路撒冷會被稱為『耶和華的寶座』，萬國都要聚集在耶路撒冷敬拜耶和華，不再執迷不悟地作惡。

我在猶太教裡比許多同輩的猶太人更進取，狂熱地維護祖先的傳統。

他們雖然明知有上帝，卻不把祂當作上帝，既不將榮耀歸給祂，也不感謝祂。他們的思想因此變得荒謬無用，無知的心也變得昏暗不明。他們自以為聰明，其實愚不可及，以必朽的人、飛禽、走獸和爬蟲的形像來取代永恆上帝的榮耀。因此，上帝任憑他們隨從內心的情慾行污穢的事，玷污彼此的身體。

要知道，你們從傳統的、沒有意義的生活中被救贖出來，不是靠金銀等會朽壞的東西，

不要像你們的祖先一樣。以前的先知曾呼喚他們要聽從萬軍之耶和華的話，改邪歸正，停止作惡，他們卻置若罔聞，不予理會。這是耶和華說的。現在你們的祖先在哪裡呢？那些先知能活到永遠嗎？

因此，我奉主的名鄭重地勸告各位，不要再像不信的外族人一樣過著心靈空虛的日子。他們因為愚昧無知，頑固不化，理智受到蒙蔽，與上帝所賜的生命隔絕了。他們喪盡天良，放縱情慾，沉溺於各種污穢的事。

眾祭司從來不問『耶和華在哪裡？』執掌律法的不認識我，首領背叛我，先知靠巴力說預言，隨從無用的假神。

「你怎能說，『我沒有玷污自己，也沒有隨從巴力』？看看你在山谷中幹的勾當，想想你的所作所為。你是一隻發情的母駱駝，煩躁不安，跑來跑去。

我們以前也在他們當中隨從罪惡的本性，放縱肉體和心中的私慾，與其他人一樣本是惹上帝發怒的人。

耶和華看見人罪惡深重，心中終日思想惡事，

但我們必照所許的願向天后燒香奠酒，正如我們和我們的祖先、君王和官長在猶大各城和耶路撒冷街上所做的一樣。那時，我們食物充足，生活幸福，無災無禍。
