予雖未之素識、惟遣予授洗者曾誥予曰：「汝見聖神降臨、止於其身者、是即將以聖神授洗者也。」

And I myself did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me,‘ The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’

I didn’t know he was the one, but when God sent me to baptize with water, he told me,‘ The one on whom you see the Spirit descend and rest is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’

And I did not recognize Him, but He who sent me to baptize in water said to me,‘ He upon whom you see the Spirit descending and remaining upon Him, this is the One who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.’

約翰是用水施洗，但再過幾天，你們要受聖靈的洗。”

我用水給你們施洗，表示你們悔改；但在我以後要來的那一位，能力比我更大，我就是替他提鞋也沒有資格。他要用聖靈與火給你們施洗。

約翰對眾人說：“我用水給你們施洗，但那能力比我更大的要來，我就是給他解鞋帶都沒有資格。他要用聖靈與火給你們施洗。

他就救了我們，並不是由於我們所行的義，而是照著他的憐憫，藉著重生的洗和聖靈的更新。聖靈就是神藉著我們的救主耶穌基督豐豐富富澆灌在我們身上的，

我一開始講話，聖靈就降在他們身上，正像當初降在我們身上一樣。我就想起主所說的話：‘約翰用水施洗，但你們要受聖靈的洗。’

我們無論是猶太人，是希臘人，是作奴隸的，是自由的，都在那一位聖靈裡受了洗，成為一個身體，都飲了那一位聖靈。

耶穌回答：“我實實在在告訴你，人若不是從水和聖靈生的，就不能進神的國。

問他們說：“你們信的時候，受了聖靈沒有？”他們說：“沒有，連聖靈賜下來這件事，我們也沒有聽過。”保羅問：“那麼你們受的是甚麼洗呢？”他們說：“是約翰的洗禮。”保羅說：“約翰施的是悔改的洗禮，他告訴人民當信在他以後要來的那一位，就是耶穌。”他們聽見了，就受洗歸入主耶穌的名下。保羅為他們按手，聖靈就降在他們身上，他們就用各種的語言講話，並且說預言。

神所差來的那一位講神的話，因為神把聖靈無限地賜給他。

他傳講說：“有一位在我以後來的，能力比我大，我就是彎腰給他解鞋帶都沒有資格。我用水給你們施洗，他卻要用聖靈給你們施洗。”

彼得還在說話的時候，聖靈降在所有聽道的人身上，那些受了割禮、跟彼得一同來的信徒，因為聖靈的恩賜（“恩賜”或譯：“恩賞”）也澆灌在外族人的身上，都很驚訝；原來聽見他們講方言，尊神為大。於是彼得說：“這些人既然領受了聖靈，跟我們一樣，誰能禁止他們受水的洗禮呢？”

我本來不認識他，但為了要把他顯明給以色列人，因此我來用水施洗。”

那時，耶穌從加利利來到約旦河約翰那裡，要受他的洗。約翰想要阻止他，說：“我應該受你的洗，你卻到我這裡來嗎？”耶穌回答：“暫且這樣作吧。我們理當這樣履行全部的義。”於是約翰答應了他。

他們都被聖靈充滿，就照著聖靈所賜給他們的口才，用別種語言說出話來。
