就是从约翰施洗起，直到主离开我们被接上升的日子为止，必须从那常与我们作伴的人中立一位与我们同作耶稣复活的见证。”

我们为这事作见证；神赐给顺从之人的圣灵也为这事作见证。”

约翰又作见证说：“我曾看见圣灵，仿佛鸽子从天降下，住在他的身上。

人要传说你可畏之事的能力；我也要传扬你的大德。他们记念你的大恩就要传出来，并要歌唱你的公义。

看见这事的那人就作见证，他的见证也是真的，并且他知道自己所说的是真的，叫你们也可以信。

法利赛人对他说：“你是为自己作见证，你的见证不真。”耶稣说：“我虽然为自己作见证，我的见证还是真的；因我知道我从哪里来，往哪里去；你们却不知道我从哪里来，往哪里去。

但我要从父那里差保惠师来，就是从父出来真理的圣灵；他来了，就要为我作见证。你们也要作见证，因为你们从起头就与我同在。”

有许多犹太人知道耶稣在那里，就来了，不但是为耶稣的缘故，也是要看他从死里所复活的拉撒路。

我也知道你常听我，但我说这话是为周围站着的众人，叫他们信是你差了我来。”

约翰便将神的道和耶稣基督的见证，凡自己所看见的都证明出来。

我们既领受人的见证，神的见证更该领受了，因神的见证是为他儿子作的。信神儿子的，就有这见证在他心里；不信神的，就是将神当作说谎的，因不信神为他儿子作的见证。这见证就是神赐给我们永生；这永生也是在他儿子里面。人有了神的儿子就有生命，没有神的儿子就没有生命。

那些来看马利亚的犹太人见了耶稣所做的事，就多有信他的；但其中也有去见法利赛人的，将耶稣所做的事告诉他们。

我看见了，就证明这是神的儿子。”

那些同马利亚在家里安慰她的犹太人，见她急忙起来出去，就跟着她，以为她要往坟墓那里去哭。

约翰所作的见证记在下面：犹太人从耶路撒冷差祭司和利未人到约翰那里，问他说：“你是谁？”
