耶穌又到了加利利的迦拿，就是他變水為酒的地方。有一個大臣，他的兒子在迦百農患病。

腓力找到拿但業，告訴他：“摩西在律法書上所寫的，和眾先知所記的那位，我們已經遇見了，他就是約瑟的兒子拿撒勒人耶穌。”拿但業說：“拿撒勒還能出甚麼好的嗎？”腓力說：“你來看！”耶穌看見拿但業向他走過來，就論到他說：“看哪，這的確是個以色列人，他心裡沒有詭詐。”拿但業問他：“你怎麼認識我呢？”耶穌回答：“腓力還沒有招呼你，你在無花果樹下的時候，我就看見你了。”拿但業說：“拉比，你是神的兒子，你是以色列的王！”耶穌說：“因為我告訴你‘我看見你在無花果樹下’，你就信了嗎？你還要看見比這些更大的事。”又對他說：“我實實在在告訴你們，你們要看見天開了，神的眾使者在人子的身上，上去下來。”第三天，在加利利的迦拿有婚筵，耶穌的母親在那裡；

多馬對他說：“我的主！我的神！”

這是耶穌所行的第一件神蹟，是在加利利的迦拿行的。他顯出了自己的榮耀，他的門徒就信了他。

到義伯崙、利合、哈們、加拿，直到西頓大城；

耶穌又往前走，看見另一對兄弟，就是西庇太的兒子雅各和他的兄弟約翰，正和父親西庇太在船上整理魚網，他就呼召他們。他們立刻離了船，別了父親，跟從了耶穌。

西門的夥伴，西庇太的兒子雅各、約翰也是這樣。耶穌對西門說：“不要怕！從今以後，你要作得人的漁夫了。”
