西門回答說：「老師，我們勞碌了一整夜，什麼也沒有捕到。不過按照你的話，我就下網吧。」

西門的夥伴，就是西庇太的兒子雅各和約翰，也同樣驚訝。耶穌對西門說：「不要怕！從今以後，你將得人了。」他們把兩條船靠了岸，捨棄一切跟從了耶穌。

耶穌在加利利湖邊行走，看見兄弟兩個人，就是那叫彼得的西門和他弟弟安得烈，正在湖裡撒網；他們本來是漁夫。耶穌就對他們說：「來跟從我！我將要使你們成為得人的漁夫。」他們立刻捨棄漁網，跟從了耶穌。

所以，除了使之生長的神，那栽種的和那澆灌的都算不得什麼。

其實你們自己知道應該怎樣效法我們，因為我們在你們那裡的時候並沒有懶散，也沒有白吃過誰的飯。相反，我們辛苦勞碌、日夜做工，免得成為你們任何人的負擔。這並不是因為我們沒有這權利，而是要親自給你們做榜樣，好讓你們效法我們。

你們自己也知道，我這雙手供應了我和與我在一起之人的需要。

難道只有我和巴拿巴沒有不做工的權利嗎？

弟兄們，你們記得我們的辛苦和勞碌：我們把神的福音傳給你們的時候，我們日夜做工，免得成為你們任何人的負擔。

因為與他們同業，就住在他們那裡做工。原來他們是以製帳篷為業的。
