Do not be amazed that I said to you,‘ You must all be born from above.’

You should not be surprised at my saying,‘ You must be born again.’

Jesus replied,“ I tell you the solemn truth, unless a person is born from above, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

You were taught with reference to your former way of life to lay aside the old man who is being corrupted in accordance with deceitful desires,to be renewed in the spirit of your mind,and to put on the new man who has been created in God’s image– in righteousness and holiness that comes from truth.

but nothing ritually unclean will ever enter into it, nor anyone who does what is detestable or practices falsehood, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.

He told them another parable:“ The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed with three measures of flour until all the dough had risen.”Jesus spoke all these things in parables to the crowds; he did not speak to them without a parable.This fulfilled what was spoken by the prophet:“ I will open my mouth in parables, I will announce what has been hidden from the foundation of the world.”

“ Do not be amazed at this, because a time is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear his voice

You have purified your souls by obeying the truth in order to show sincere mutual love. So love one another earnestly from a pure heart.

Therefore I exhort you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a sacrifice– alive, holy, and pleasing to God– which is your reasonable service.Do not be conformed to this present world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may test and approve what is the will of God– what is good and well- pleasing and perfect.

But what if God, willing to demonstrate his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience the objects of wrath prepared for destruction?And what if he is willing to make known the wealth of his glory on the objects of mercy that he has prepared beforehand for glory–even us, whom he has called, not only from the Jews but also from the Gentiles?As he also says in Hosea:“ I will call those who were not my people,‘ My people,’ and I will call her who was unloved,‘ My beloved.’”

What is man that he should be pure, or one born of woman, that he should be righteous?

Pursue peace with everyone, and holiness, for without it no one will see the Lord.

When Jesus was aware that his disciples were complaining about this, he said to them,“ Does this cause you to be offended?Then what if you see the Son of Man ascending where he was before?The Spirit is the one who gives life; human nature is of no help! The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.

Like obedient children, do not comply with the evil urges you used to follow in your ignorance,but, like the Holy One who called you, become holy yourselves in all of your conduct,for it is written,“ You shall be holy, because I am holy.”

If I have told you people about earthly things and you don’t believe, how will you believe if I tell you about heavenly things?

giving thanks to the Father who has qualified you to share in the saints’ inheritance in the light.

What then? Are we better off? Certainly not, for we have already charged that Jews and Greeks alike are all under sin,just as it is written:“ There is no one righteous, not even one,there is no one who understands, there is no one who seeks God.All have turned away, together they have become worthless; there is no one who shows kindness, not even one.”“ Their throats are open graves, they deceive with their tongues, the poison of asps is under their lips.”“ Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness.”“ Their feet are swift to shed blood,ruin and misery are in their paths,and the way of peace they have not known.”“ There is no fear of God before their eyes.”Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world may be held accountable to God.
