婦曰：『先生盍以此水見賜、令我不復渴、亦無庸頻來汲水。』

信我的人，就如經上所說的，從他的腹中將要湧流出活水的江河。」耶穌這話是指著信他的人所要領受的聖靈而說的。當時，聖靈還沒有臨到，因為耶穌還沒有得榮耀。

耶穌對他們說：「我就是生命的糧。到我這裡來的人，絕不飢餓；信我的人，永不乾渴。

他們既不飢餓也不口渴，炎熱和太陽也不會傷害他們，因為那憐憫他們的必引領他們，帶領他們到水泉旁邊。

在基督裡，你們也聽從了真理的話語，就是那使你們得救的福音，並且信了基督，就蒙了所應許的聖靈為印記。聖靈是我們得繼業的預付憑據，直到屬神的子民得贖，歸於他榮耀的稱讚。

他們將不再飢餓，也不再乾渴；太陽或任何炎熱也不會傷到他們；

這才是從天上降下來的糧，不像嗎哪。你們的祖先吃過嗎哪還是死了，而吃這糧的人就將活著，直到永遠。」

他又在我們身上蓋了印，並且賜聖靈在我們心裡做為預付憑據。

所有活著而信我的人絕不會死，直到永遠。你信這話嗎？」

我們也知道：神的兒子已經來了，並且把領悟的心賜給了我們，使我們能認識真實的那一位。我們在真實的那一位裡面，也就是在他的兒子耶穌基督裡面——這一位就是真神，就是永恆的生命。

因為罪的工價就是死；但神的恩賜，在我們的主基督耶穌裡，卻是永恆的生命。

不要讓神的聖靈憂傷；你們蒙了他的印記，直到得贖的日子。

盜賊來，無非是要偷竊、宰殺、毀滅；而我來是要他們得生命，並且得的更豐盛。

這樣，就像罪藉著死亡掌權，恩典也照樣藉著義掌權，使人藉著我們的主耶穌基督進入永恆的生命。

正如你賜給他權柄管轄所有的人，好讓他把永恆的生命給與一切你所賜給他的人。認識你——獨一的真神，並認識你所差派的耶穌基督，這就是永恆的生命。

我也要向父祈求，他就將賜給你們另一位慰助者，讓他與你們在一起，直到永遠。他就是真理的靈，是世界不能接受的，因為世界看不到他，也不認識他。而你們認識他，因為他與你們同在，並且要在你們裡面。我不會撇下你們為孤兒，我要回到你們這裡來。「再過一會兒，世人不再看到我了，而你們將看到我。因為我活著，你們也將活著。

聖靈親自與我們的靈一同作證：我們是神的兒女。既然是兒女，也就是繼承人；如果我們真是為了與他一同得榮耀而與他一同受苦，我們就是神的繼承人，而且與基督同做繼承人。

你們既然藉著順從真理，使自己的靈魂純潔，以致有了不虛假的弟兄之愛，就應當以潔淨的心，彼此熱切地相愛。

「結果這些人將離去，進入永遠的刑罰。然而，義人將進入永恆的生命。」
