You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me,

You study the Scriptures carefully. You study them because you think they will give you eternal life. The Scriptures you study are a witness about me.

You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me,

You pore over the Scriptures because you think you have eternal life in them, and yet they testify about me.

You examine the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is those very Scriptures that testify about Me;

And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

And he said unto them, These[ are] the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and[ in] the prophets, and[ in] the psalms, concerning me.

We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake[ as they were] moved by the Holy Ghost.

Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and read: no one of these shall fail, none shall want her mate: for my mouth it hath commanded, and his spirit it hath gathered them.

These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned[ them];And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.All scripture[ is] given by inspiration of God, and[ is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace[ that should come] unto you:Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.

Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come:That Christ should suffer,[ and] that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles.

For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath day, they have fulfilled[ them] in condemning[ him].

( Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,)

MEM. O how love I thy law! it[ is] my meditation all the day.Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they[ are] ever with me.I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies[ are] my meditation.

Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.Blessed[ is] the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.

Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God.

The wise[ men] are ashamed, they are dismayed and taken: lo, they have rejected the word of the LORD; and what wisdom[ is] in them?

The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence[ is] fulness of joy; at thy right hand[ there are] pleasures for evermore.

For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me.

The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;

I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.

And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner:

Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

For the commandment[ is] a lamp; and the law[ is] light; and reproofs of instruction[ are] the way of life:

For with thee[ is] the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.

They answered and said unto him, Art thou also of Galilee? Search, and look: for out of Galilee ariseth no prophet.

Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.

Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.

For it[ is] not a vain thing for you; because it[ is] your life: and through this thing ye shall prolong[ your] days in the land, whither ye go over Jordan to possess it.

Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true.

And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See[ thou do it] not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

King Agrippa, believest thou the prophets? I know that thou believest.

Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes.And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.And thou shalt write them upon the door posts of thine house, and upon thy gates:

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

He asked life of thee,[ and] thou gavest[ it] him,[ even] length of days for ever and ever.

But his delight[ is] in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word,[ it is] because[ there is] no light in them.

But I have greater witness than[ that] of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.

And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good?[ there is] none good but one,[ that is], God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,Honour thy father and[ thy] mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?

As the dew of Hermon,[ and as the dew] that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing,[ even] life for evermore.

And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame[ and] everlasting contempt.

Behold, thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God,And knowest[ his] will, and approvest the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law;

And it shall be, when he sitteth upon the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this law in a book out of[ that which is] before the priests the Levites:And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the LORD his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them:

But now they desire a better[ country], that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.

Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:
