耶穌回答說：『我的國不屬於這世界。我的國若屬於這世界，給我當差事的就要戰鬥、使我不至於被送交給猶太人了。其實我的國不是出於這裏的。』

於是耶穌覺得人將要來抓住他、使他做王，就再退到山上，自己單獨在那裏。到了傍晚，門徒下海邊去；既上了船，就要往海那邊到迦伯農去。天已經黑了，耶穌還沒有來到他們那裏，海又因大風吹着，翻騰起來。門徒搖櫓、約有四到六公里的光景，見耶穌在海上走，漸漸地近了船，他們就害怕。耶穌對他們說：『是我，別怕了！』他們就歡歡喜喜地接他上船；船立刻到了他們所要去的地方。

耶穌隨即催門徒上船，先到那邊，到伯賽大去，等他自己解散羣眾。既辭別了他們，他就往山上去禱告。到了傍晚，船在海中，耶穌自己單獨在岸上。看見他們艱苦在搖櫓，因為風逆着他們；就在夜裏四更時分，向着他們那裏走去，在海上走，想要在他們旁邊走過去。他們看見他在海上走，以為是鬼怪，就高聲喊叫起來；大家一看見他，便震盪不安。耶穌連忙同他們講話，對他們說：『你們放膽；是我；別怕了！』就到他們那裏上了船，風就不狂吹了。他們心裏非常驚奇；因為他們不曉悟餅的事；心裏總是愚頑。

耶穌的弟兄就對耶穌說：『你離開這裏，上猶太去吧，讓你的門徒在那裏也看看你所作的事啊。因為沒有人在隱密中作事、而尋求公開顯揚的。你既作這些事，就該將自己向世人顯明出來啊。』（

耶穌隨即催門徒上船，在他以先到那邊去，等他解散羣眾。既解散了羣眾，他就獨個兒上山去禱告。到了傍晚，他單獨一人在那裏。這時船離岸已有幾百公尺，給波浪打得很苦了，因為吹的是逆風。夜裏四更天、耶穌在海上走，要往他們那裏去。門徒看見他在海上走，嚇了一跳，說：『是鬼怪喲！』由於懼怕，就喊叫起來。耶穌連忙對他們說：『你們放膽；是我；別怕了！』彼得應時說：『主啊，如果是你，請吩咐我就在水上到你那裏去吧。』耶穌說：『你來吧。』彼得就從船上下去，在水上走，向着耶穌那裏走去。彼得見了風就怕，將要沉下去，便喊着說：『主啊，救我！』耶穌立刻伸手拉住他，對他說：『小信的人哪，為甚麼猶豫？』他們上了船，風就不狂吹了。船上的人都拜他說：『你真是上帝的兒子啊！』

前行後隨的人都喊着說：『獻頌讚哦！奉主名來的是當受祝頌的！

說：『奉主名來的王是當受祝頌的！在天上和平，在至高之處榮耀！』

第二天、來過節的有一大羣人、聽說耶穌要到耶路撒冷，就拿着棕樹枝、出去迎接他，嚷着說：『獻頌讚哦！奉主名來的以色列王、是當受祝頌的！耶穌得了一匹驢駒，就騎上，正如經上所記的說：「錫安的民眾啊，別怕了！看哪，你的王騎着驢駒來了！」（

耶穌卻上了山，同他的門徒坐在那裏。

耶穌自己呢、卻不將自己信託他們，因他深知萬人，又因為他不需要甚麼人給人作見證；他自己深知在人裏面的是甚麼。

被創造者在上帝面前、沒有一個是不顯露的；萬物在我們必須和他算賬的主眼前、都是赤裸裸、捉襟肘見的。

從人來的榮耀、我不領受，
