So they said to him,“ Then what miraculous sign will you perform, so that we may see it and believe you? What will you do?

他們又說：「你行甚麼神蹟，叫我們看見就信你；你到底做甚麼事呢？

於是他們對耶穌說：『那麼你行甚麼神迹、叫我們看見來信你呢？你作甚麼工啊？

他們就問：「那麼，你行個什麼神蹟，好讓我們看了就可以信你呢？你可以做什麼呢？

眾曰、爾行何異蹟、使我見而信爾乎、爾何所為乎、

曰、爾行何異跡、使我見而信爾、爾果何以哉、

曰、爾行何異跡、使我見而信爾、爾果何行、

眾曰：『汝有何靈徵、使我見而信之乎？汝亦何所務乎？

So they asked him,“ What sign then will you give that we may see it and believe you? What will you do?

So they said to him,“ Then what sign do you do, that we may see and believe you? What work do you perform?

They answered,“ Show us a miraculous sign if you want us to believe in you. What can you do?

“ What sign, then, are you going to do so that we may see and believe you?” they asked.“ What are you going to perform?

So they said to Him,“ What then are You doing as a sign, so that we may see, and believe You? What work are You performing?

Therefore they said to Him,“ What sign will You perform then, that we may see it and believe You? What work will You do?

They said therefore unto him, What then doest thou for a sign, that we may see, and believe thee? what workest thou?

“ What sign then are You going to do so we may see and believe You?” they asked.“ What are You going to perform?

They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?

They said therefore to him,“ What then do you do for a sign, that we may see and believe you? What work do you do?

Although Jesus had performed so many miraculous signs before them, they still refused to believe in him,

But if I do them, even if you do not believe me, believe the deeds, so that you may come to know and understand that I am in the Father and the Father is in me.”

But I told you that you have seen me and still do not believe.

So then the Jewish leaders responded,“ What sign can you show us, since you are doing these things?”

For Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks ask for wisdom,

( For his disciples had gone off into the town to buy supplies.)

Now when the Pharisees and Sadducees came to test Jesus, they asked him to show them a sign from heaven.He said,“ When evening comes you say,‘ It will be fair weather, because the sky is red,’and in the morning,‘ It will be stormy today, because the sky is red and darkening.’ You know how to judge correctly the appearance of the sky, but you cannot evaluate the signs of the times.A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah.” Then he left them and went away.

As the crowds were increasing, Jesus began to say,“ This generation is a wicked generation; it looks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah.For just as Jonah became a sign to the people of Nineveh, so the Son of Man will be a sign to this generation.

That day he also announced a sign,“ This is the sign the LORD has predetermined: The altar will be split open and the ashes on it will fall to the ground.”

Then the Pharisees came and began to argue with Jesus, asking for a sign from heaven to test him.

They say,“ Let him hurry, let him act quickly, so we can see; let the plan of the Holy One of Israel take shape and come to pass, then we will know it!”

The altar split open and the ashes fell from the altar to the ground, in fulfillment of the sign the prophet had announced with the LORD’s authority.

“ If they do not believe you or pay attention to the former sign, then they may believe the latter sign.

The other disciples told him,“ We have seen the Lord!” But he replied,“ Unless I see the wounds from the nails in his hands, and put my finger into the wounds from the nails, and put my hand into his side, I will never believe it!”Eight days later the disciples were again together in the house, and Thomas was with them. Although the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said,“ Peace be with you!”Then he said to Thomas,“ Put your finger here, and examine my hands. Extend your hand and put it into my side. Do not continue in your unbelief, but believe.”Thomas replied to him,“ My Lord and my God!”Jesus said to him,“ Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are the people who have not seen and yet have believed.”

“ Ask for a confirming sign from the LORD your God. You can even ask for something miraculous.”But Ahaz responded,“ I don’t want to ask; I don’t want to put the LORD to a test.”So Isaiah replied,“ Pay attention, family of David. Do you consider it too insignificant to try the patience of men? Is that why you are also trying the patience of my God?For this reason the sovereign master himself will give you a confirming sign. Look, this young woman is about to conceive and will give birth to a son. You, young woman, will name him Immanuel.

Then some of the experts in the law along with some Pharisees answered him,“ Teacher, we want to see a sign from you.”But he answered them,“ An evil and adulterous generation asks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.

while you extend your hand to heal, and to bring about miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”

while God confirmed their witness with signs and wonders and various miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.

Let the Christ, the king of Israel, come down from the cross now, that we may see and believe!” Those who were crucified with him also spoke abusively to him.
