Our ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written:‘ He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’”

Long ago our people ate the manna in the desert. It is written in Scripture,‘ The Lord gave them bread from heaven to eat.’ ”( Exodus 16:4; Nehemiah 9:15; Psalm 78:24, 25)

既食地之所產、此日瑪拿即止、以色列人不再得瑪拿、是年始食迦南地之所產、○

此乃由天降之糧、食此糧者必永生、非若爾祖食瑪拿、後亦死、

使爾卑微、使爾饑餓、以爾與爾祖所未識之瑪拿賜爾食、使爾知人不獨恃餅得生、亦恃凡由主口所出之言得生、

今瑪拿外、我目前無他物食、使我精力衰枯、瑪拿狀如芫荽子、色如比多拉見創世記二章十二節小註眾民四出斂取、或磨之以磨、或搗之以臼、或烹於釜、或作為餅、其味與和油之餅相同、夜間露降於營中、瑪拿亦隨下、

以色列人食瑪拿歷四十年、至入可居之地、彼食瑪拿至入迦南境、

主又賜聖善之神以訓之、仍賜瑪拿、不絕於其口、賜之水飲、以止其渴、
