For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”

耶穌又謂之曰：『予切實告爾、爾苟不食人子之體而飲其血、則爾不具生命。

予切實告爾、人能聽從吾言、而信仰遣予來者、莫不享受永生、而免譴責、蓋已出死而入生矣。

蓋罪孽之果報為死、而天主之恩賜、則因耶穌基督而獲永生是已。

睹予者、亦即睹遣予者也。

耶穌曰：『予即復活！予即生命！凡置信於予者、雖死必生；

俾信之者、得免淪亡、而獲永生。夫天主不惜以其惟一聖子賜之於世、俾凡信之者、得免淪亡、而獲永生、是其愛世之篤、為何如乎？蓋天主遣子入世非以判世、乃以濟世。故信之者不被譴、不信者譴在其中矣；以其不信天主惟一聖子之名也。

勸爾勿務易腐之糧、宜務永生之糧、此糧惟受天主聖父印證之人子、能賜於爾。』

婦曰：『先生盍以此水見賜、令我不復渴、亦無庸頻來汲水。』

瞬息之間、世將不復見予、爾獨見予。蓋予永生、爾亦因以有生焉。

道成人身。居我儕中。吾儕親睹。孔德之容。惟一聖子。無上光榮。妙寵真諦。充溢厥躬。

既見救恩、我心則慰

此即永生、亦即天主所夙許於吾人之恩諾也。

其證云何？曰：天主已賜吾人以永生；而永生即在其聖子之身。故有聖子者、有永生；無聖子者、無永生。吾作是書、欲爾曹信仰天主聖子之名義者、自知已具永生也、

庶克長遊於天主聖愛之中、而望我主耶穌基督加以慈惠、賜以常生。

爾祖亞伯漢嘗歡忭踴躍、以瞻望予之日矣。彼既睹之、而神樂充溢矣。』

嚮者父授子以統治元元之權、欲其以永生溥施父所授子之人也。

夫天主昔嘗作光於黑暗之中矣、今乃照耀於吾人之心中、俾吾人得藉基督耶穌之聖容、而洞識天主之光榮。

予賜以永生、終無淪亡之虞、亦無能奪自予手。

罪之彰在死亡之界而恩之盛則在永生之域。其所以然者、惟恃吾主耶穌而成義耳。

信仰聖子者、獲永生；不順聖子者、無以望生、天主譴怒、恆臨其身。』

吾知厥命即是永生；故予所言、惟述父之所言而已矣。』

凡信而受洗者得救、不信者遭譴。

恩師非他、真諦之神是已。世俗不見此神、不識此神、故不克受之；爾則識之、以彼與爾偕、寓於爾故。

夫耶穌基督、爾等未之見也而已衷心慕之；雖無所睹而能毅然信之。故爾等歡樂難言、寵榮被身、

厥後又憑信德、不恤君王之震怒、而逃出埃及。蓋其心目中常有形而上之天主、故能百折不撓、磨而不磷也。

耶穌曰：『予即生命之糧；歸予者不復有飢、信予者不復有渴。第予語爾、爾雖睹予而不予信也。凡父所賜於予之人、必來歸予；來歸予者、予決不拒。

信德者、乃所望諸事之確保、而未見諸事之心證也。
