Whoever speaks on their own does it to get personal honor. But someone who works for the honor of the one who sent him is truthful. Nothing about him is false.

“ I do not accept praise from human beings.

So eat and drink and do everything else for the glory of God.Don’t do anything that causes another person to trip and fall. It doesn’t matter if that person is a Jew or a Greek or a member of God’s church.Follow my example. I try to please everyone in every way. I’m not looking out for what is good for me. I’m looking out for the interests of others. I do it so that they might be saved.

When Jesus heard this, he said,“ This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory. God’s Son will receive glory because of it.”

“ I am not controlled by a demon,” said Jesus.“ I honor my Father. You do not honor me.I am not seeking glory for myself. But there is one who brings glory to me. He is the judge.

Some people are worried about how things look on the outside. They are trying to force you to be circumcised. They do it for only one reason. They don’t want to suffer by being connected with the cross of Christ.Even those who are circumcised don’t obey the law. But they want you to be circumcised. Then they can brag about what has been done to your body.I never want to brag about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Through that cross the ways of the world have been crucified as far as I am concerned. And I have been crucified as far as the ways of the world are concerned.

If anyone speaks, they should do it as one speaking God’s words. If anyone serves, they should do it with the strength God provides. Then in all things God will be praised through Jesus Christ. Glory and power belong to him for ever and ever. Amen.

Don’t do anything only to get ahead. Don’t do it because you are proud. Instead, be humble. Value others more than yourselves.None of you should look out just for your own good. Each of you should also look out for the good of others.As you deal with one another, you should think and act as Jesus did.

“ This is how you should pray.“‘ Our Father in heaven, may your name be honored.

They came to John and here is what they said to him.“ Rabbi, that man who was with you on the other side of the Jordan River is baptizing people. He is the one you told us about. Everyone is going to him.”John replied,“ A person can receive only what God gives them from heaven.You yourselves are witnesses that I said,‘ I am not the Messiah. I was sent ahead of him.’The bride belongs to the groom. The friend who helps the groom waits and listens for him. He is full of joy when he hears the groom’s voice. That joy is mine, and it is now complete.He must become more important. I must become less important.

Father, bring glory to your name!” Then a voice came from heaven. It said,“ I have brought glory to my name. I will bring glory to it again.”

After Judas was gone, Jesus spoke. He said,“ Now the Son of Man receives glory. And he brings glory to God.If the Son brings glory to God, God himself will bring glory to the Son. God will do it at once.

Now leave me alone. I will destroy them because of my great anger. Then I will make you into a great nation.”But Moses asked the Lord his God to have mercy on the people.“ Lord,” he said,“ why should you destroy your people in anger? You used your great power and mighty hand to bring them out of Egypt.Why should the Egyptians say,‘ He brought them out to hurt them. He wanted to kill them in the mountains. He wanted to wipe them off the face of the earth’? Turn away from your great anger. Please take pity on your people. Don’t destroy them!Remember your servants Abraham, Isaac and Israel. You made a promise to them in your own name. You said,‘ I will make your children after you as many as the stars in the sky. I will give them all this land I promised them. It will belong to them forever.’ ”

We were not expecting people to praise us. We were not looking for praise from you or anyone else. Yet as Christ’s apostles, we could have used our authority over you.

Jesus replied,“ If I bring glory to myself, my glory means nothing. You claim that my Father is your God. He is the one who brings glory to me.

But Moses replied,“ Are you jealous for me? I wish that all the Lord’ s people were prophets. And I wish that the Lord would put his Spirit on them.”

I have brought you glory on earth. I have finished the work you gave me to do.So now, Father, give glory to me in heaven where your throne is. Give me the glory I had with you before the world began.

It isn’t good for you to eat too much honey. And you shouldn’t try to search out matters too deep for you.
