曰：『此非若瑟之子耶穌乎？厥父若母、非吾人所素識乎？而彼竟自謂降自天上何也？』

遄返故里、施訓會堂、眾奇之曰：『斯人何由而得如斯之妙慧異能？渠非梓人之子乎？厥母非名瑪莉雅乎？厥兄若弟、非雅各伯、若瑟、西門、樹德乎？厥姊若妹、非與吾輩為比鄰乎？然則斯人亦安得有此耶？』遂疑忌耶穌。耶穌曰：『先知之不見尊、其惟在故鄉族中歟。』

吾知天主曾與摩西語矣；若夫斯人、吾實不知其所自？』

或曰：『斯乃基督！』或曰：『基督豈能出於加利利乎？經不云：「基督出於大維之裔、而來自大維故鄉百利恆」乎？』

彼非梓人乎？又非瑪莉雅之子、雅谷伯若瑟樹德西門之兄弟乎？其姊若妹、非吾人之鄰居乎？』遂鄙而棄之。

對曰：『猶太之百利恆也；蓋先知紀云：「猶太地、百利恆、猶太諸邑中、爾非最可輕；當有王者自爾出、彼將牧我義塞民。」』

眾皆領教、且歎佩其口中所發之仁言、咸相謂曰：『此非若瑟之子耶？』

猶太人異曰：『斯人未學、何由知書？』

卑微蒙冤屈、公義何由伸。生命絕於地、身世復誰論。
