于是守卫长与差役们一起去把使徒们带来，并没有用暴力，因为怕民众用石头砸他们。

于是犹大领着一队士兵，还有祭司长们和法利赛人的差役们，带着灯笼、火把、兵器来到那里。

“经文士和法利赛人哪，你们这些伪善的人有祸了！因为你们在人的面前封闭了天国。你们自己不进去，也不让正要进的人进去。

差役们回到祭司长们和法利赛人那里。那些人问：“为什么没有把他带来？”差役们回答：“从来没有人像这个人那样讲话！”法利赛人说：“难道你们也被迷惑了吗？难道首领或法利赛人中有信他的吗？这不懂律法的民众是被诅咒的！”他们当中有一个人，就是原先来到耶稣那里的尼克迪莫，对他们说：“如果不先听本人的口供，并且了解他做了什么，我们的律法就定不了他的罪，难道不是吗？”他们回答说：“你也不会是加利利人吧？你去查一查看，先知是不会从加利利兴起的！”然后他们每个人都回家去了。

众人都十分惊讶，说：“难道这个人就是‘大卫的后裔’？”但法利赛人听见了却说：“这个人如果不是靠着鬼魔的王别西卜，就不能驱赶鬼魔！”

耶稣对前来对付他的祭司长们、圣殿守卫长们和长老们说：“你们带着刀剑和棍棒出来，就像对付强盗那样吗？我天天在圣殿里与你们在一起的时候，你们不向我下手。不过现在是你们的时候了，是黑暗掌权的时候了！”

于是法利赛人互相说：“可见你们真没用！看，这世界都跟随他去了。”
