You will seek Me, and will not find Me; and where I am, you cannot come.”

Then He said again to them,“ I am going away, and you will look for Me, and will die in your sin; where I am going, you cannot come.”So the Jews were saying,“ Surely He will not kill Himself, will He, since He says,‘ Where I am going, you cannot come’?”And He was saying to them,“ You are from below, I am from above; you are of this world, I am not of this world.Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am, you will die in your sins.”

Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who have been sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, just as a hen gathers her young under her wings, and you were unwilling!Behold, your house is left to you desolate; and I say to you, you will not see Me until you say,‘ Blessed is the One who comes in the name of the Lord!’ ”

And He said to the disciples,“ The days will come when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it.And they will say to you,‘ Look there,’ or,‘ Look here!’ Do not leave, and do not run after them.

Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.

Because I called and you refused, I stretched out my hand and no one paid attention;And you neglected all my advice And did not want my rebuke;I will also laugh at your disaster; I will mock when your dread comes,When your dread comes like a storm And your disaster comes like a whirlwind, When distress and anguish come upon you.Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; They will seek me diligently but will not find me,Because they hated knowledge And did not choose the fear of the Lord.They did not accept my advice, They disdainfully rejected every rebuke from me.So they shall eat of the fruit of their own way, And be filled with their own schemes.

Little children, I am still with you a little longer. You will look for Me; and just as I said to the Jews, now I also say to you:‘ Where I am going, you cannot come.’I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, that you also love one another.By this all people will know that you are My disciples: if you have love for one another.”Simon Peter* said to Him,“ Lord, where are You going?” Jesus answered,“ Where I am going, you cannot follow Me now; but you will follow later.”

They will go with their flocks and herds To seek the Lord, but they will not find Him; He has withdrawn from them.

“ Strive to enter through the narrow door; for many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able.Once the head of the house gets up and shuts the door, and you begin standing outside and knocking on the door, saying,‘ Lord, open up to us!’ and He then will answer and say to you,‘ I do not know where you are from.’

Jesus* said to him,“ I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me.
