If I am wicked, woe to me! But if I am righteous, I dare not lift up my head. I am full of shame, and conscious of my misery.

If I am guilty— woe to me! Even if I am innocent, I cannot lift my head, for I am full of shame and drowned in my affliction.

If I were guilty, how terrible that would be for me! Even if I haven’t sinned, I can’t be proud of what I’ve done. That’s because I’m so full of shame. I’m drowning in my suffering.

If I am guilty, woe to me! If I am in the right, I cannot lift up my head, for I am filled with disgrace and look on my affliction.

If I am guilty, too bad for me; and even if I’m innocent, I can’t hold my head high, because I am filled with shame and misery.

If I am wicked, woe to me! And even if I am righteous, I cannot lift up my head. I am filled with shame and have drunk deeply of my affliction.

If I am wicked, woe to me; Even if I am righteous, I cannot lift up my head. I am full of disgrace; See my misery!

If I be wicked, woe unto me; And if I be righteous, yet shall I not lift up my head; Being filled with ignominy, And looking upon mine affliction.

Woe to the wicked! It will go badly for him, For what he deserves will be done to him.

For though I were right, I could not answer; I would have to implore the mercy of my Judge.

Though I am righteous, my mouth will condemn me; Though I am guiltless, He will declare me guilty.I am guiltless; I do not take notice of myself; I reject my life.

So you will again distinguish between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve Him.

Look at my misery and my trouble, And forgive all my sins.

According to Your knowledge I am indeed not guilty, Yet there is no one to save me from Your hand.

Therefore, I would be terrified at His presence; When I consider this, I am frightened of Him.

And the Lord said,“ I have certainly seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their outcry because of their taskmasters, for I am aware of their sufferings.

Even when I remember, I am disturbed, And horror takes hold of my flesh.

I am guilty, Why then should I struggle in vain?

but to those who are self serving and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, He will give wrath and indignation.There will be tribulation and distress for every soul of mankind who does evil, for the Jew first and also for the Greek,

Then I said,“ Woe to me, for I am ruined! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I live among a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of armies.”

“ May my enemy be as the wicked, And my opponent as the criminal.

See, Lord, for I am in distress; My spirit is greatly troubled; My heart is overturned within me, For I have been very rebellious. In the street the sword has made women childless; In the house it is like death.

Look at my affliction and rescue me, For I have not forgotten Your Law.

If He were to snatch away, who could restrain Him? Who could say to Him,‘ What are You doing?’

You meet him who rejoices in doing righteousness, Who remembers You in Your ways. Behold, You were angry, for we sinned, We continued in our sins for a long time; Yet shall we be saved?For all of us have become like one who is unclean, And all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment; And all of us wither like a leaf, And our wrongdoings, like the wind, take us away.

So you too, when you do all the things which were commanded you, say,‘ We are unworthy slaves; we have done only that which we ought to have done.’ ”

The wicked will return to Sheol, All the nations who forget God.

Remember, Lord, what has come upon us; Look, and see our disgrace!Our inheritance has been turned over to strangers, Our houses to foreigners.We have become orphans, without a father; Our mothers are like widows.We have to pay for our drinking water, Our wood comes to us at a price.Our pursuers are at our necks; We are worn out, we are given no rest.We have submitted to Egypt and Assyria to get enough bread.Our fathers sinned, and are gone; It is we who have been burdened with the punishment for their wrongdoings.Slaves rule over us; There is no one to rescue us from their hand.We get our bread at the risk of our lives Because of the sword in the wilderness.Our skin has become as hot as an oven, Because of the ravages of hunger.They violated the women in Zion, The virgins in the cities of Judah.Leaders were hung by their hands; Elders were not respected.Young men worked at the grinding mill, And youths staggered under loads of wood.Elders are absent from the gate, Young men from their music.The joy of our hearts has ended; Our dancing has been turned into mourning.The crown has fallen from our head; Woe to us, for we have sinned!Because of this our heart is faint, Because of these things our eyes are dim;Because of Mount Zion which lies desolate, Jackals prowl in it.You, Lord, rule forever; Your throne is from generation to generation.Why will You forget us forever? Why do You abandon us for so long?Restore us to You, Lord, so that we may be restored; Renew our days as of old,Unless You have utterly rejected us And are exceedingly angry with us.
