He said to mankind,“ The fear of the Lord— that is wisdom. And to turn from evil is understanding.”

And he said to the human race,“ The fear of the Lord— that is wisdom, and to shun evil is understanding.”

He said to human beings,“ Have respect for the Lord. That will prove you are wise. Avoid evil. That will show you have understanding.”

And he said to man,‘ Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to turn away from evil is understanding.’”

And this is what he says to all humanity:‘ The fear of the Lord is true wisdom; to forsake evil is real understanding.’”

And to mankind He said,‘ Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; And to turn away from evil is understanding.’ ”

And to man He said,‘ Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, And to depart from evil is understanding.’”

And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; And to depart from evil is understanding.

He said to mankind,“ The fear of the Lord is this: wisdom. And to turn from evil is understanding.”

And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that[ is] wisdom; and to depart from evil[ is] understanding.

And he said to mankind,‘ The fear of the LORD– that is wisdom, and to turn away from evil is understanding.’”

To man he said,‘ Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom. To depart from evil is understanding.’”

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his instructions have good insight. His praise endures forever.

Don’t be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and turn away from evil.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and discipline.

“ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

Carefully follow them, for this will show your wisdom and understanding in the eyes of the peoples. When they hear about all these statutes, they will say,‘ This great nation is indeed a wise and understanding people.’

When all has been heard, the conclusion of the matter is this: fear God and keep his commands, because this is for all humanity.

Who among you is wise and understanding? By his good conduct he should show that his works are done in the gentleness that comes from wisdom.But if you have bitter envy and selfish ambition in your heart, don’t boast and deny the truth.Such wisdom does not come down from above but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic.For where there is envy and selfish ambition, there is disorder and every evil practice.But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peace-loving, gentle, compliant, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without pretense.

Turn away from evil and do what is good; seek peace and pursue it.

The highway of the upright avoids evil; the one who guards his way protects his life.

The hidden things belong to the LORD our God, but the revealed things belong to us and our children forever, so that we may follow all the words of this law.

“ People, I call out to you; my cry is to the children of Adam.Learn to be shrewd, you who are inexperienced; develop common sense, you who are foolish.

“ Wash yourselves. Cleanse yourselves. Remove your evil deeds from my sight. Stop doing evil.

before he made the land, the fields, or the first soil on earth.I was there when he established the heavens, when he laid out the horizon on the surface of the ocean,when he placed the skies above, when the fountains of the ocean gushed out,when he set a limit for the sea so that the waters would not violate his command, when he laid out the foundations of the earth.I was a skilled craftsman beside him. I was his delight every day, always rejoicing before him.I was rejoicing in his inhabited world, delighting in the children of Adam.“ And now, sons, listen to me; those who keep my ways are happy.

and let him turn away from evil and do what is good. Let him seek peace and pursue it,

A wise person’s instruction is a fountain of life, turning people away from the snares of death.

Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm, bearing this inscription: The Lord knows those who are his, and let everyone who calls on the name of the Lord turn away from wickedness.
