眾人按照大衛的吩咐，把掃羅和約拿單的骸骨埋葬在掃羅父親基士的墓裡，在便雅憫境內的洗拉。此後，上帝垂聽了人們為國家的禱告。

然後再沿著欣嫩子谷而上，直到耶布斯，即耶路撒冷的南面，再到欣嫩谷西面、利乏音谷北端的山頂；

撒母耳離開吉甲去便雅憫境內的基比亞。掃羅數了一下跟隨他的人，約有六百人。掃羅及其兒子約拿單和隨從留在便雅憫境內的迦巴，非利士人則在密抹紮營。

掃羅返回基比亞自己的家時，有一群被上帝感動的勇士跟隨他。

他們過了關口，在迦巴宿營。拉瑪人戰戰兢兢，掃羅的鄉親基比亞人倉皇逃跑。

耶和華說：「以色列人啊，從基比亞的日子以來，你們一直不斷地犯罪，從未改變。難道戰禍沒有臨到基比亞的邪惡之輩嗎？

主人說：「我們不可在沒有以色列人住的外邦城邑住宿，不如趕到基比亞。」他又說：「我們前往基比亞或拉瑪住宿吧。」於是，他們繼續前行，到便雅憫境內的基比亞時，天已經黑了。他們決定在那裡過夜。因為沒有人接待他們，他們只好在城中的廣場露宿。

人數多的多分產業，人數少的少分產業，要按登記的人數分配。

那利未人，就是被害女子的丈夫說：「我和我的妾到便雅憫的基比亞住宿。那天晚上，基比亞人包圍我們住宿的房子，要殺死我。他們把我的妾蹂躪致死。

又往下到欣嫩子谷對面的山麓，也就是利乏音谷北邊，然後往南，經欣嫩谷到耶布斯山南部，直到隱·羅結；

猶大人沒能把住在耶路撒冷的耶布斯人趕出去，他們至今仍然跟猶大人一同居住。

你們要按宗族家系抽籤分配土地，人口多的多分，人口少的少分，抽到哪塊地就得哪塊地。

那天，大衛下令軍隊從地下水道爬進城去，攻打那些「瞎子、瘸子」，他憎惡這些耶布斯人。後來便有一句俗語：「瞎子、瘸子不得進殿！」
