“ See!” he said to all the people.“ This stone will be a witness against us. It has heard all the words the Lord has said to us. It will be a witness against you if you are untrue to your God.”

And Joshua said to all the people,“ Behold, this stone shall be a witness against us, for it has heard all the words of the Lord that he spoke to us. Therefore it shall be a witness against you, lest you deal falsely with your God.”

Joshua said to all the people,“ This stone has heard everything the Lord said to us. It will be a witness to testify against you if you go back on your word to God.”

And Joshua said to all the people,“ You see this stone— it will be a witness against us, for it has heard all the words the LORD said to us, and it will be a witness against you, so that you will not deny your God.”

耶穌說：「我告訴你們，如果他們閉口不言，這些石頭都要呼喊了！」

呂便和迦得人給那座祭壇取名叫「證壇」，意思是這壇在我們中間證明耶和華是上帝。

只是在你們和我們之間，也在彼此的後人之間立個證據，證明我們也獻燔祭、平安祭及其他祭事奉耶和華，免得日後你們的子孫對我們的子孫說，『你們與耶和華一點關係也沒有。』萬一你們對我們或我們的子孫這樣說，我們可以回答說，『你們看我們祖先築的這座祭壇跟耶和華的祭壇一模一樣，只是這座壇不是用來獻燔祭或別的祭，而是作為你們和我們之間的證據！』

「把這律法書放在你們的上帝耶和華的約櫃旁，作為指控你們的證據。

諸天啊，請聽！大地啊，要側耳聽！耶和華說：「我把孩子撫育成人，他們竟然背叛我。

「諸天啊，請留心聽；大地啊，請聽我說。

因為我懼怕上帝降災禍，我無法承擔祂的威嚴。

我們若忍耐到底，就必與祂一同作王。我們若不承認祂，祂也必不承認我們。我們縱然會失信，祂仍然信實可靠，因為祂不能違背自己。」

撒母耳拿了一塊石頭放在米斯巴和善的中間，稱之為以便以謝，說：「耶和華到如今都幫助我們。」

凡公開不承認我的，我在天父面前也必不承認他。

免得我因為飽足就不認你，說：「耶和華是誰呢？」又恐怕我因窮困而偷竊，以致辱沒我上帝的名。

當許多禍患和災難臨到他們的時候，這首歌就要成為指控他們的證據，因為這首歌要在他們的子孫中世代流傳。雖然我還沒有帶領他們進入我起誓應許之地，我已經知道他們的心思意念。」

牆上的石頭必高聲指控你們，房子的梁木必同聲回應。

他們自稱認識上帝，在行為上卻否認祂。他們令人可憎，悖逆成性，一無是處。

來吧，你我立約為證。」於是，雅各拿來一塊石頭，立作柱子，又吩咐族人去收集石頭。他們把石頭堆成一堆，在旁邊吃喝。拉班稱那石堆為伊迦爾·撒哈杜他，雅各卻稱那石堆為迦累得。拉班說：「今日，這石堆是你我之間的憑證。」因此，那地方名叫迦累得，又叫米斯巴，因為拉班說：「我們分手以後，願上帝親自鑒察我們。倘若你虐待我的女兒，或在她們以外另娶妻子，即使沒人知道，也有上帝在你我之間做見證。」拉班又說：「看我在你我之間立的這石堆和石柱。這石堆和石柱都是憑證，我一定不會越過石堆去害你，你也不可越過石堆和石柱來害我。

「現在，你要寫一首歌，教導以色列人，讓他們背誦，作為我指控他們的證據。

今天，我叫天地為你們作證，我已把生死禍福擺在你們面前。選擇生命吧，以便你們及子孫可以存活。

否則，今天我叫天地作證，你們必很快從約旦河對面將要佔領的土地上滅亡，你們必被徹底消滅，不得在那裡長久居住。

『我知道你的行為，你力量微小，卻遵守了我的教導，沒有背棄我的名。所以，看啊！我在你面前為你打開了一扇無人能關閉的門。
