“‘ Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord.

“‘ Do not try to get even. Do not hold anything against any of your people. Instead, love your neighbor as you love yourself. I am the Lord.

If, however, you are fulfilling the royal law according to the Scripture,“ You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well.

The second is like it,‘ You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’Upon these two commandments hang the whole Law and the Prophets.”

The second is this:‘ You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”And the scribe said to Him,“ Well said, Teacher; You have truly stated that He is One, and there is no other besides Him;and to love Him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the strength, and to love one’s neighbor as oneself, is much more than all the burnt offerings and sacrifices.”When Jesus saw that he had answered intelligently, He said to him,“ You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And then, no one dared any longer to question Him.

And he answered,“ You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.”And He said to him,“ You have answered correctly; do this and you will live.”But wanting to justify himself, he said to Jesus,“ And who is my neighbor?”Jesus replied and said,“ A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he encountered robbers, and they stripped him and beat him, and went away leaving him half dead.And by coincidence a priest was going down on that road, and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.Likewise a Levite also, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.But a Samaritan who was on a journey came upon him; and when he saw him, he felt compassion,and came to him and bandaged up his wounds, pouring oil and wine on them; and he put him on his own animal, and brought him to an inn and took care of him.On the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper and said,‘ Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I return, I will repay you.’Which of these three do you think proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell into the robbers’ hands?”And he said,“ The one who showed compassion to him.” Then Jesus said to him,“ Go and do the same.”

Honor your father and mother; and You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written:“ Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.

“ You have heard that it was said,‘ You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,

“ If you encounter your enemy’s ox or his donkey wandering away, you must return it to him.If you see the donkey of one who hates you lying helpless under its load, you shall not leave it helpless for its owner; you must arrange the load with him.

And someone came to Him and said,“ Teacher, what good thing shall I do so that I may obtain eternal life?”

for it is a servant of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a servant of God, an avenger who brings wrath on the one who practices evil.

Then Absalom commanded his servants, saying,“ See now, when Amnon’s heart is cheerful with wine, and I say to you,‘ Strike Amnon,’ then put him to death. Do not fear; have I not commanded you myself? Be courageous and be valiant.”

Never repay evil for evil to anyone. Respect what is right in the sight of all people.

Do not say,“ I will repay evil”; Wait for the Lord, and He will save you.

Outside the sword will make them childless, And inside, terror— Both young man and virgin, The nursing child with the man of gray hair.

All bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and slander must be removed from you, along with all malice.

But now you also, rid yourselves of all of them: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene speech from your mouth.

For we know Him who said,“ Vengeance is Mine, I will repay.” And again,“ The Lord will judge His people.”

idolatry, witchcraft, hostilities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions,

Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander,

But Absalom did not speak with Amnon either good or bad; for Absalom hated Amnon because he had violated his sister Tamar.

He will not always contend with us, Nor will He keep His anger forever.
