You know how I am scorned, disgraced and shamed; all my enemies are before you.Scorn has broken my heart and has left me helpless; I looked for sympathy, but there was none, for comforters, but I found none.

Then the governor’s soldiers took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole company of soldiers around him.They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him,and then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on his head. They put a staff in his right hand. Then they knelt in front of him and mocked him.“ Hail, king of the Jews!” they said.They spit on him, and took the staff and struck him on the head again and again.

He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.

Indeed Herod and Pontius Pilate met together with the Gentiles and the people of Israel in this city to conspire against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed.They did what your power and will had decided beforehand should happen.

When Jesus came out wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe, Pilate said to them,“ Here is the man!”

This is what the Lord says— the Redeemer and Holy One of Israel— to him who was despised and abhorred by the nation, to the servant of rulers:“ Kings will see you and stand up, princes will see and bow down, because of the Lord, who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you.”

But I am a worm and not a man, scorned by everyone, despised by the people.

They blindfolded him and demanded,“ Prophesy! Who hit you?”And they said many other insulting things to him.
