For if people do these things when the tree is green, what will happen when it is dry?”

蓋木之青者猶如此、枯者將若何、

蓋木尚青、猶如此、木既枯、將若何、

蓋木之青者猶如此、則枯者將若何、○

蓋青木尚遭此厄、枯木又將如何？』

People do these things when trees are green. So what will happen when trees are dry?”

For if they do these things when the wood is green, what will happen when it is dry?”

For if these things are done when the tree is green, what will happen when it is dry?”

“ Son of man, how is the wood of a vine different from that of a branch from any of the trees in the forest?Is wood ever taken from it to make anything useful? Do they make pegs from it to hang things on?And after it is thrown on the fire as fuel and the fire burns both ends and chars the middle, is it then useful for anything?If it was not useful for anything when it was whole, how much less can it be made into something useful when the fire has burned it and it is charred?“ Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: As I have given the wood of the vine among the trees of the forest as fuel for the fire, so will I treat the people living in Jerusalem.I will set my face against them. Although they have come out of the fire, the fire will yet consume them. And when I set my face against them, you will know that I am the Lord.

Say to the southern forest:‘ Hear the word of the Lord. This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am about to set fire to you, and it will consume all your trees, both green and dry. The blazing flame will not be quenched, and every face from south to north will be scorched by it.Everyone will see that I the Lord have kindled it; it will not be quenched.’”

If the righteous receive their due on earth, how much more the ungodly and the sinner!

See, I am beginning to bring disaster on the city that bears my Name, and will you indeed go unpunished? You will not go unpunished, for I am calling down a sword on all who live on the earth, declares the Lord Almighty.’

After the sixty- two‘ sevens,’ the Anointed One will be put to death and will have nothing. The people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood: War will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed.

and say to her:‘ This is what the Lord says: I am against you. I will draw my sword from its sheath and cut off from you both the righteous and the wicked.Because I am going to cut off the righteous and the wicked, my sword will be unsheathed against everyone from south to north.

But land that produces thorns and thistles is worthless and is in danger of being cursed. In the end it will be burned.

These people are blemishes at your love feasts, eating with you without the slightest qualm— shepherds who feed only themselves. They are clouds without rain, blown along by the wind; autumn trees, without fruit and uprooted— twice dead.
