The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive.

He returned to Nazareth, his hometown. When he taught there in the synagogue, everyone was amazed and said,“ Where does he get this wisdom and the power to do miracles?”Then they scoffed,“ He’s just the carpenter’s son, and we know Mary, his mother, and his brothers— James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas.All his sisters live right here among us. Where did he learn all these things?”

You are the most handsome of all. Gracious words stream from your lips. God himself has blessed you forever.

The Sovereign Lord has given me his words of wisdom, so that I know how to comfort the weary. Morning by morning he wakens me and opens my understanding to his will.

The next Sabbath he began teaching in the synagogue, and many who heard him were amazed. They asked,“ Where did he get all this wisdom and the power to perform such miracles?”Then they scoffed,“ He’s just a carpenter, the son of Mary and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas, and Simon. And his sisters live right here among us.” They were deeply offended and refused to believe in him.

Teach the truth so that your teaching can’t be criticized. Then those who oppose us will be ashamed and have nothing bad to say about us.

The Teacher sought to find just the right words to express truths clearly.The words of the wise are like cattle prods— painful but helpful. Their collected sayings are like a nail studded stick with which a shepherd drives the sheep.

None of them could stand against the wisdom and the Spirit with which Stephen spoke.

“ We have never heard anyone speak like this!” the guards responded.

Timely advice is lovely, like golden apples in a silver basket.

His mouth is sweetness itself; he is desirable in every way. Such, O women of Jerusalem, is my lover, my friend.

All who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers.

for I will give you the right words and such wisdom that none of your opponents will be able to reply or refute you!

The lips of the godly speak helpful words, but the mouth of the wicked speaks perverse words.

In your majesty, ride out to victory, defending truth, humility, and justice. Go forth to perform awe inspiring deeds!
