that you may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior,

having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone,

that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.”

But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd.Then He said to His disciples,“ The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few.Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease.Now the names of the twelve apostles are these: first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus;Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed Him.

Therefore the wisdom of God also said,‘ I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will kill and persecute,’

Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus,

Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases.He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.

Now a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a garland of twelve stars.

“ Rejoice over her, O heaven, and you holy apostles and prophets, for God has avenged you on her!”

And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers,
