Whereunto then shall I liken the men of this generation, and to what are they like?

耶穌又說：“我要把這世代的人比作甚麼呢？他們好像甚麼呢？

『這樣、我要用甚麼來比擬這世代的人呢？他們好像甚麼呢？

主又說：「我要把這世代的人比做什麼呢？他們好比什麼呢？

又曰、斯世之人、我何以比之、其何似耶、

主曰、斯世之人、將何以比之、又以何譬譬之耶、

主又曰、有原文抄本無此句斯世之人、我將何以喻之、彼何似也、

『夫斯代之人、予將何以擬之、彼亦何所似乎？

Jesus went on to say,“ To what, then, can I compare the people of this generation? What are they like?

And the Lord said, Whereunto then shall I liken the men of this generation? and to what are they like?

“ To what then should I compare the people of this generation? What are they like?

But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the marketplaces, who call unto their fellowsand say, We piped unto you, and ye did not dance; we wailed, and ye did not mourn.For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a demon.The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold, a gluttonous man and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners! And wisdom is justified by her works.

What shall I testify unto thee? what shall I liken to thee, O daughter of Jerusalem? What shall I compare to thee, that I may comfort thee, O virgin daughter of Zion? For thy breach is great like the sea: who can heal thee?

And he said, How shall we liken the kingdom of God? or in what parable shall we set it forth?
