Joanna the wife of Chuza, the manager of Herod’s household; Susanna; and many others. These women were helping to support them out of their own means.

Another was Joanna, the wife of Chuza. He was the manager of Herod’s household. Susanna and many others were there also. These women were helping to support Jesus and the 12 disciples with their own money.

In Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha( which is translated Dorcas). She was always doing good works and acts of charity.About that time she became sick and died. After washing her, they placed her in a room upstairs.Since Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples heard that Peter was there and sent two men to him who urged him,“ Don’t delay in coming with us.”Peter got up and went with them. When he arrived, they led him to the room upstairs. And all the widows approached him, weeping and showing him the robes and clothes that Dorcas had made while she was with them.

and is well known for good works— that is, if she has brought up children, shown hospitality, washed the saints’ feet, helped the afflicted, and devoted herself to every good work.

Entering the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and falling to their knees, they worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

He went again to Cana of Galilee, where he had turned the water into wine. There was a certain royal official whose son was ill at Capernaum.When this man heard that Jesus had come from Judea into Galilee, he went to him and pleaded with him to come down and heal his son, since he was about to die.Jesus told him,“ Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will not believe.”“ Sir,” the official said to him,“ come down before my boy dies.”“ Go,” Jesus told him,“ your son will live.” The man believed what Jesus said to him and departed.While he was still going down, his servants met him saying that his boy was alive.He asked them at what time he got better.“ Yesterday at one in the afternoon the fever left him,” they answered.The father realized this was the very hour at which Jesus had told him,“ Your son will live.” So he himself believed, along with his whole household.

“ And the King will answer them,‘ Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

At that time Herod the tetrarch heard the report about Jesus.

Herod the tetrarch heard about everything that was going on. He was perplexed, because some said that John had been raised from the dead,some that Elijah had appeared, and others that one of the ancient prophets had risen.“ I beheaded John,” Herod said,“ but who is this I hear such things about?” And he wanted to see him.

But her profits and wages will be dedicated to the LORD. They will not be stored or saved, for her profit will go to those who live in the LORD’s presence, to provide them with ample food and sacred clothing.

Now in the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen, a close friend of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? For everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your own hand.

You always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me.
