Don’t you remember?When I broke the five loaves among the five thousand, how many baskets full of broken pieces did you take up?” They told him,“ Twelve.”“ When the seven loaves fed the four thousand, how many baskets full of broken pieces did you take up?” They told him,“ Seven.”He asked them,“ Don’t you understand yet?”

He said to the multitudes also,“ When you see a cloud rising from the west, immediately you say,‘ A shower is coming,’ and so it happens.When a south wind blows, you say,‘ There will be a scorching heat,’ and it happens.You hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky, but how is it that you don’t interpret this time?

When the multitudes were gathering together to him, he began to say,“ This is an evil generation. It seeks after a sign. No sign will be given to it but the sign of Jonah, the prophet.For even as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so the Son of Man will also be to this generation.
