那时，人群越聚越多，耶稣就开始说：“这世代是个邪恶的世代，它在寻求神迹；可是除了约拿的神迹以外，不会有神迹赐给它了。就是说，约拿怎样成了对尼尼微人的一个神迹，人子也将照样成为对这世代的一个神迹。

耶稣回答他们，说：“一个邪恶、淫乱的世代会寻求神迹；可是除了先知约拿的神迹以外，不会有神迹赐给它了。就是说，正如约拿在大鱼的肚子里三天三夜，人子也照样将要在地心三天三夜。

耶和华指派了一条大鱼吞掉约拿；约拿在那鱼的肚腹中三天三夜。

在这淫乱、罪恶的世代，一个人如果以我和我的话为耻，当人子在他父的荣耀中，与圣天使们一起来临的时候，也要以这个人为耻。”

他们就开始央求耶稣离开他们的地区。耶稣上船的时候，那曾被鬼魔附身的人恳求他，要与他在一起。

耶稣灵里深深地叹息，就说：“这世代为什么在寻求神迹呢？我确实地告诉你们：绝不会有神迹赐给这世代。”

随他们吧！他们是给瞎子领路的瞎子。如果瞎子给瞎子领路，两个人都会掉进坑里。”

当他们抗拒、说亵渎话的时候，保罗就抖着衣服对他们说：“你们的血，归在你们自己的头上；我是清白的。从今以后，我要到外邦人那里去。”

耶和华就说：“我的灵不会永远住在人里面，因人是血肉之躯；他的年日只可以到一百二十年。”

彼得还说许多别的话郑重地做见证，又劝告他们说：“你们从这扭曲的世代中得救吧！”
