耶稣说：“你为什么问我做什么善事？只有上帝是善的，你要得永生，就必须遵守祂的诫命。”

因此，我们要竭力进入那安息，免得重蹈他们的覆辙，因不顺服而倒毙。

人若赚得全世界，却丧失自己的生命，又有什么益处呢？人还能拿什么换回自己的生命呢？

所有污秽的、做可憎之事的、撒谎的都不得进入圣城。唯有名字记录在羔羊的生命册上的人才有资格进去。

坚固各地门徒的信心，鼓励他们要持守信仰，并且说：“我们在进入上帝国的道路上必经历许多苦难。”

因为想救自己生命的，必失去生命；但为了我而失去生命的，必得到生命。人若赚得全世界，却失去自己或丧掉自己，又有什么益处呢？

事后，耶稣对门徒说：“我实在告诉你们，有钱人进天国很困难。我再告诉你们，骆驼穿过针眼比有钱人进上帝的国还容易呢！”
